I'm trading in my rx7 for a 240sx.
Why? Insurance. I can't afford it.
My car: 1988 FC3S GXL Suspension: JIC MAGIC SP1 coilovers Kei office front springs Mazdatrix rear camber link DTSS elims Secret element tie rods Megan racing tie rod ends Custom tie rod spacers (for toe b/c megan ends are too damn short) New front lower ball joints with energy suspension dust boots. I love those things. I tore the stock boots that came with them just from having my knuckles unbolted from the struts..... It was gay so i stepped up. Interior: Half stripped. No stereo. 330mm dish wheel w/solid hub. random advanced auto shift knob Exterior: Horrid. Not the best fender pull ever. I tell you that much. Engine: New plugs, wires, water pump, main oil pump, $2000 full rebuild by a rotary shop in NC Drivetrain: perfect shifting tranny, sloppy shifter dick bushing, clutch grabs fine and doesn't stick, TII clutch type lsd shimmed for better lock. Extra parts: Heater core, shift parts, rad, clutch fan, gauge cluster, idiot lights, oil cooler, stock air box parts, afm, welded diff with case, driveshaft, blower motor, ac/ps bracket, extra ac pump, extra ps pump.....ps lines, 5 speed swap parts......(even though the car is already a 5 speed factory.....i just have these.....) Bad: Hood latch broke. Oil metering pump leaks bad. Battery is dead. Doors are jank. Power pannels on manual doors. Now here's the car the guy in question has: "car needs some work on the plastic bumpers and hood rest of the body is great battery doesn't stay charged no power window switches but car runs good and trans. is good the factory wheels do not come with car comes with the chrome ones in pic. want this car gone today tired of fooling with it have to many other projects." Yay or nay. Should i ask for cash AND keeping my wheels or is this a fair trade? Help me out guys. I know s14's hold value well. |

keep your wheels then it's about fair. maybe like $250 on top, but that's all. looks pretty janky though. really check it out first.
you should just get it so you can join the bmx-f 240sx owner's group lol -max (quen)

"highrider420" Lawlz! How about odysseus rocking a rolla now? I loved that s13. So nice. Bummed he gave up after sr20 fail but when your girl slaps you in the face, sometimes you gotta let her go and that's sort of what i'm doing. Yeah, i might check it out. Thanks for the advice. I totally want to keep my wheels. I can't be running no +45 7" wide joints. I can't fap to that. Again, i'm getting rid of this: 1. Insurance 2. I'm not going to spend my entire tax refund getting this thing kitted, painted and on the road. I paid a $400 deposit, they want another $400 because it's "high risk" and $300/month. I'm almost 25 and have NO accidents on my record. None. Screw that. 3. rotary. I can't walk into advanced and purchase parts. Plus, if one thing in the motor goes, i have to take the whole thing apart, spend an arm and a leg on a new seal kit, possibly outsource an iron or rotor housing or rotor or a combination of everything. It gets expensive quick and the gas mileage is shit. I love the car. Dont get me wrong. I get an ear to ear grin every time i drive it. I dont even have to kick it sideways but when i do, it's so easy to control it's stupid so no doubt i'd kill it in a 240 with a few suspension mods and reliability mods...... And YES, i'm asking for advice. I'm not going to shun you if i get screwed over your judgement call but the thing is, I DONT WANT TO GET SCREWED. You guys are s-chassis guys. You should know what something is worth. I'm waiting on a reply to my email from him soon to see what he and I can work out. |

back on topic: have you compared the insurance rates between the two cars?

Simpler solution is change insurance companies. A friend of mine's rx7 isn't even anywhere near as much to insure as yours is for whatever strange reason.
Also, that s14 looks like hell from the pictures. your rx7 > that s14... |

wasup man... im in NC. i was the guy emailing you about selling your car for cash..but you know that s14..he only wants $1,000 for it..if your going to trade for that and keep your wheels lol i'll buy your car for $1500 then.
instead of getting rid of a car you like, how about switching insurance dude. lol my FC was SUPER CHEAP, as ine 40 a month if that. im with allstate, maybe you should think about that dude. and no bullshit deposites. HAHAH i have a 04 SRT4 andd 92 s13. and its barely over $130 a month. |

Keep the fc, or find another car to trade for that s14 looks jank as f***, not worth it man, s14s are cool and what not but you have alot more money into that fc then the s14 is even worth... keep the fc and swap a sr20/ls1/rb25/ect. into it....

I would try another insurance company first.
Then keep the RX, it seems to be set up and ready to go. Why start a new project?

+1 on shopping for insurance, especially with a clean record. Depends on where you live though. Avoid that S14

I have no idea why my insurance is through the roof but i'm going to make some phone calls and see what i can do as far as changing and getting different rates. I've got USAA but i have alot of other stuff on insurance.
No, i dont really want to start another project. I barged into the rx7 full throttle and got serious fast in terms of building it as a full fledged drift car that works well for me. Fuck yeah, i'd love to keep it. It's just i can't support it and it pisses me off. I bmx too and since i dont live directly in charlotte where most of the skateparks close to me are around, i have to drive. I live 42 miles from charlotte, 100ish miles from china grove/statesville...... The rx7 gets 20mpg on a good day on the highway. In charlotte traffic, maybe 12 or 13.... I could lean it out with an safc hack and gain 3-5 mpg and gain some pony that i wont feel but it's still not worth it. Oh, and the doors are fine. The only issue is i put power panels on manual doors so it's a bit w/e. They open and close fine..... I opened the car up to look at the interior and then looked at the exterior and realize i have 10 times the amount of money into the suspension and motor than what the shell would be worth because of scratches, some small dents in the passenger quarter, shitty paint and missing nearly every interior pannel in the car. Talk to me via email/pm. I dont want this thread moved due to making deals directly out of this thread. we can try to work something out but i can't do $1500. Haha. |

Isn't Hariguchi an an s chassis now? Haha. Yep. That's the kit i was going for. BN, 18/17 stagger on some knock offs with good fitment but instead of a gt spoiler, i wanted a wangan style spoiler WITH a roof wing. That's $2k i was going to spend. My tax return is going to pay for my trip to cali, get me a decent hd video camera and some other cool shit i've been wanting for a while that isn't car related. I'm trying to curb my addiction to the fc.

Not a fan of the jdm nissan engines. They are great but i fell in love with the sound and prowess of the toyota 1-6 turbo. |
