just do it. pretty soon there wont be any s13 or s14 around cause they will all be in junk yards. ive had a coupe and a hatch and a 14 and they were the best thing that ever happend for me.

seriously, you should get a saab 9-3 turbo, some sort of sedan, or a toyota. and plus, the ladies appreciate not having to climb into the back everytime they get in. just depends on what you want.

Well what exactly are your long term goals? If its really your money that you "worked" for I don't see any reason why they would say otherwise.
Don't make the mistakes that many people make though, if your planning on making it a full out track car get a beater car and save up for a shell and do it right the first time. |

now i just got my first 240 like a month and a half ago with my own money just needed my parents fucking ok... just takes time and patience goes into it i guess, so don't go ape shit lol

if your first car is a 240, you WILL total it. THERE IS NO EXCEPTION TO THE RULE.
your first car should always be a beater piece of shit you don't care about. and don't be mister cool kid, beating on his beater because it's a cheap pile of fuck. learn to respect your car early and you won't wind up parting out a car you like later.

If you plan to drive it...
I'm pretty responsible and a 240 was my first car and I totaled it. That was an S14 in really nice shape though, not some beater S13, and I regretted not spending my money on something crappier the first time around. |

If you are concerned about gas mileage, get a honda. If you want to live your life a 1/4 mile at a time, get a Nissan. Tell your parents that you want to go to Iraq to serve your country. See how fast they bow down.

your anti-beater argument should be that a 500 p.o.s. car is going to cost you more in maintainence and last less years than a decent 3k or so car
i d.d'ed my $3000 s13 for 4 years when the car was 12-16 years old at the time... had i gotten a $500 p.o.s., i would have gone through tons of shit cars w/ no resale value. a car worth keeping is going to cost you less in the long-run than a cheap shit box thats about to die. that damn s13 could still sell for 1700 bucks right now... freakin 6 years after i bought it, try that with a junky $800 chevy lumina or mercury topez

You only need insurance to drive your licensed car on public roads. If you buy a shell, it sure as hell won't be licensed, street legal, or even have an engine. Once you get it driveable and street legal then you get the plates and put insurance on it

dude, make sure you take it to a mechanic before you buy. and if they seller wont let you, I suggest walkin' away.
besides that I have a 91 hatch, and ten speeding tickets in three states within the last five years, and my insurance is $80 a month. that on top of the fact that I'm three years away from "classic car" status in my state. So no more emissions or inspection. |

Get a really shitty car at first and let it leak all over the driveway and garage.
Work on it like hell and it still is P.O.S. eventually your parents will feel sorry for you. Then take them to go look at a good condition 240sx. Be like "If you get me this, I'll sell the POS at home." Hey, worked for me. lol

I'll hook u up cheap. lol, enough promoting of my shit. Do some soul searching and figure out what you REALLY want, that way you can build it up and keep it for a LONG time. i crashed my first s13 when i just bought it in 2 weeks. then crashed again some idiot hit me. then again some idiot decided to slam on the brakes. then another idiot "i know him" backed up and hit my car again. so i got a new one. again.
but enough of the small talk have fun get one and trust me if its your money they cant say shiit after you get it. i did what you did bought my car on my own without my parents consent when i was a kid. then they couldnt say after i bought it.

the only problem is that he's not 18 yet, so legally he can't sign the title or actually register the thing......but i suppose you could pay someone cash, get them to transfer the title, and come home with car and make daddy sign it lol

true that. the thing is that this law about buying a car when youre still underage is bullshiit. but the law is the law. its still bullshiit.
