Delta Region SCCA will be having their annual Grand Finale Charity event Sunday Sept. 28th at the Naval Air Station in Belle Chasse, LA. All proceeds from this event go to the Navy Marine Enlisted Relief Fund. We have this event every year as a thank you to the base for letting us use their facility since 1954. This year the autocross will have a special twist. The morning session will be a standard autocross. Competitors will get two runs in this session. These two runs not only determine your finish position in class for trophies, it also determines your bracket position for the after noon session.

Here's where the twist comes in. The afternoon session will be a single elimination drag race style bracket event. Competitors will go head to head on a mirror khana autocross course. No timers. This is straight competition between two drivers. You each run the same course and are allowed to hit two cones without penalty, however, the third cone you hit will result in dnf and give the win to your competitor. This is not wheel to wheel racing. Cars are separated by the width of a 150' runway at a minimum. Cars run an oval autocross course in a counterclockwise direction. They start on opposite sides of the runway facing opposite directions. When the flag drops, both cars start. The first car back to his own starting line is the winner. I know this may sound a little confusing, but trust me when I say that you have never had this much fun autocrossing before. We have done an event like this several times in the past. The event date is September 28th. You must pre-register to be allowed on the base, but you do not have to pay in advance. Hope to see some of you there, it's going to be a blast!

Hope some of you guys can make it to this event. We'll probably do some grudge matches at the end of the event for anyone that wants to run as well. So, bring your buddies and find out, head to head, who's the best driver.
