Smog Help?
So i searched and cannot find a solution to my problem.
1993 hatch, Kade. Stock-ish; high flow fuel pump, adjustable fpr. I have to pass smog by the end of the month otherwise.... well no more 240 for awhile. Any who, i took it to a smog place and he pretested it numerous times on three separate visits. First time, Really high HC levels: put an adjustable fpr on it, lowered hc levels alot. Second time, fairly high hc and NOx: Messed with fpr, new cap, new rotor, new plugs, new wires, cleaned MAF. helped, but not enough. Third time, low levels overall, but still not enough to pass: New o2, leaning out the fuel, still has too much hc levels... so my question is, what else can i do to help my emissions? sensors? new coil? id like to narrow it down to a few things... thanks |

HC levels are still high, this mean im running rich? and the NOx and CO are border lining.
so no passing smog.....yet I looked at my cat, and the filters are intact, but i can see through it. if it was clogged i wouldnt be able to see through it right? |

if you still have your charcoal canister thingy that connects to your intake filter box take the hose off then block the nipple on the air box. with either a lot of tape or a small plug. REASON: The charcoal canister can sometimes stop working on our old cars and emits the excess crap into your air box and thus throwing your MAF sensor off. try that .... and also is your motor a California motor?

I had the black box unhooked with a cone filter and it didnt work. if you meant stock intake with that section of pipe going to the box plugged, no i havent tried that. Im ging to put a stock fuel pump in and change my oil (has gas in it now from running rich for so long).

check your cat maybe get a new one and let it heat up for a bit then pre test again, clean your egr valve, definatley change the oil if its time for it to be changed non synthetic blend. but you may have worn/torn fuel lines and the ecu is asking for more fuel so its dumping more fuel and your getting too much unburned fuel which off course no good! causing you to run rich, so i would also get that checked and and im sure youll pass after that :ghey:
