I keep wanting to get a Ruckus or something...but

God damn they are expensive. I'm surprised there is no kit to strip down a Elite S or comparable scooter and make them look cool.

My problem with Scooters is I really don't have any benefit for them. I have a motorcycle endorsement and I would carry insurance since i have no desire to go bankrupt if some idiot in a car hits me. With prices being 2-3k, shit you can buy a nice motorcycle... or I could just fix my Triumph....

The Ruckus is very overpriced and overrated for what it is. Though Honda seems to have no trouble selling it, and I am all for more people riding scooters.

This is pretty cool.

This is ultra cool.

Some French moped racing series.
There are a few companies that made fairings for mopeds. Bidalot seems to be the most common one.

I want to build a quadkart when I finish up the 240 project. I didnt have a chance to read all 5 pages yet but if it hasnt been mentioned, its a goped motor with a very small seat and 4 wheels, mario kart style.

There's a pretty large goped community in south FL.

My buddy ports ped motors that make crazy power. 40cc motors doing 55mph. Hes building his own right now with a dual stage nitrous injection, hoping to do 70's....but, he is very secretive of everything!

This was my 2011. Had 7k on it. On the first of October in 2012, I got hit by a guy that ran a red light. He hit the red Chevy first which saved my life. The Chevy deflected him out of my direct path. I ended up T-boning him. I crawled away with multiple breaks to my right ankle 3 fractured rib 3 chipped vertebrae dislocated hip and knee, multiple cuts and bruises.

So anyone rocking a chuckus?

I'm thinking of selling my dirt-bike and using some of the cash to get a chucky.

http://www.scooterdepot.us/150cc-4-s...unk-d150l.html

Way I see it, most Ruckus owners modify the damn thing to the point it ceases to be a Honda, not to mention most swap in the GY6 engine anyways!

So China Ruck comes with better looking wheels, hydraulic disk brakes and a 150cc engine. Yes, all the wires, controls, plastics and mirrors are cheap and crappy, but if you are hacking them off and modifying it... so what?

I like Dan's (PBM) comment about his Ruckus.

I recently bought a 2009 ruckus and then I bought everything that makes a ruckus cool, and realized that after taking all of the Honda stuff I was pretty much left with the frame. So then I thought huh, I just bought a $2500 frame ~ that sucks.

I have been thinking about that model for years. Issues I have had are parts compatibility with a real ruckus. Scooter depot is hit or miss on the reviews. Ruckus guys are anti-knockoff so they are no help.

Frame is different on the ruckus clone. A good friend of mine dorby from dorbyworks.com built a badass ruckusclone. Stretched fatty front and rear, mesh loves, rrgs forks, 4 pistons brakes etc. Id hit him up if any of you guys are serious about rucks/clones.

I'm wondering if stuff like the headset is the same diameter. Sort, of like a parts interchange.

Right now, I feel like this thing has the acceleration of Bowser with the top speed of Yoshi. I want to be more Mario/Luigi nahmsayin.
so i bought a ruckus recently from a friend , who happens to have started this thread haha

bought it non-runnning , and got it back from my local scooter shop not long ago and after another friend helped me with other stuff it needed. These things are really fun and for the town i live in, which is college town, it's amazing. Really stoked recently that i have this thing to pick up groceries and go to starbucks. I'd like a faster ruckus down the road... kinda...not really. For what it costs, the fun factor is quite high! 42mph on flats for me. Bangng limiter (stock) on down hills at around 48mph. Probably need a CDI and i can do more everywhere... This thing is pretty solid now!

Triple tree is different iirc, doesnt matter though because when you order rrgs shocks you order them in the correct diameter and length for that setup. Then the wheels, rotors, brakes, etc are all universal and you fab it up to work. Or you buy the stuff from dorby whos already fabbed up the parts and taken the guess work out of it.

You dont need a cdi. You need a variator with a bigger face and a nice belt with some slider weights. Also a clutch and spring upgrade would help. We have the local guys doing 50+ on stock 50's no cdi.

And yes I used to be into the ruck scene heavy. Any questions you guys have feel free to ask.

That honda dio on the top of this page is amazing.

The cool thing about Chinese scooters is that aftermarket parts for them are dirt cheap.

Which really is stupid.

The insane boom to the scooter industry in the last 5-10 years has been because of the proliferation of Chinese scooters. Once, long ago you had to go to a motorcycle dealer and pay $2,500 to $3,500 for a scooter. Today, every pawn shop, hardware store and gas station now sells Chinese Scoots for $600 to $1,200. Or you just have one shipped right to your door from the internet!

While the plastics are crap the engines are fantastic and all you have to do is get 2-3 riding seasons and you can junk it.

Honda should be ashamed for what they have been doing. The Ruckus is like 15 years old and hasn't received an update in almost 10 years. It has wire actuated drum brakes, a 50cc engine and comes in TWO GOD DAMN COLORS.

Please tell me where my $3,000 is going.

It's idiotic of the community to support this nonsense. At the very least Honda should have by now offered a 150cc engine and disk-brakes. It's 2015. For $1,000 more you get a 250cc, twin-disk sports bike that gets nearly the same fuel economy and has like a 10 times the horse power.

Also, why is the Ruckus, which is devoid of plastic, $700 more then the Metropolitan which is a plastic clad Vespa rip off?

pretty much spot on. most on CL and TR even are insane for the price they want for a stock or mostly stock ruckus. I have no idea how the resell value on these are so high.... and MRSP too. I mean factory is like 2800$ or something crazy. At minimum they could have given disc brakes, 150cc, and better suspension, and still it would cost 3k.

for the price i paid, i am satisified with this thing though. It's cheaper than any bicycle i have so far haha.

For good reason... you'll be throwing a lot of these "cheap" parts at it to keep it running.

I'm debating on getting either a Grom or just converting my bike to a moped. Groms look fun!

Only like 300 more than a rukus but more power/manual trans/better brakes..
