Redtop? Blacktop?

For reference here are the specs on the different TB for SR's.

S13 SR20DET throttle bore = 60mm
S14 SR20DET throttle bore = 50mm
S15 SR20DET throttle bore = 50mm

Tomei sells a 70mm throttle body. If this isn't big enough you can use a Q45 with the right adapter. I believe they are between 80-90mm.

Would 10mm more really make a difference?

Are you putting down 400whp, or just assuming you're making this much? If so, I would imagine you'd seem some improvement but nothing mind blowing. IIRC the stock SR20 60mm TB is good for about 350-400hp.

Without listing what you've done with the motor, I don't think anyone can really give you a good idea wether or not it's worth upgrading the TB.

Waste of money

We can make 500-700 horsepower maybe even more on the OEM throttle body.
Using a larger part there just makes the car more difficult to drive and reduces the resolution at the pedal, reduces fuel economy, etc... its all negative, there is very little positive benefit at 500 horsepower and less for sure.

would performance/drivability improve on a redtop by reducing the size from 60mm to 50mm? Has anyone tried that?

How sure are you of this? I am currently building a S14 SR20 with a GTX3582R. Planning to make 600 whp+ I was debating whether to get a Greddy IM for the stock throttle (50mm) will most likely use KA TB (60mm) instead of the 70mm N1 TB which are rare and expensive. Would the 10mm make the difference i.e. more hp at upper RPMs, broader peak power at upper RPMs, etc??? This is what is causing me not to get a Greddy IM because of the TB sizes. I am currently looking at Velocity Elements IM which they will custom in Q45 TB flange. I just don't want the TB to be a limiting factor in making power.

With the aspect of forced induction you can only do so much. pretty simple all you can do is smooth things out porting/polishing cause you are forcing air in. CFM in duration will play a big part but to an extent there is always a capacity or limit to where it become less efficient IE to small of an IC or displacement.
