Tune = Nightmare

So my ka-t is that close in being finished, time to tune, i have heard/read so many different things i dont know what to do. Its a full t25 setup, fmic etc. should i use a safc or greddy e manage ? Which is the better of the 2 ? Or is there any other management thats not over 500$ but safe and reliable on the ka ? Leave your input please

If your budget is $500 I would get a rom tune.

SAFC and e manage are crap.

even for a small t25 setup? its a dd, so wont the e manage or safc hold up to its use and be somewhat safe ? What would be the cons of using them ? Also if i were to switch my turbo or upgrade, would i need to reset the rom tune ? Thanks guys

They fuck up your timing. Not safe. They were designed for fine tuning not a radical change from NA to turbo.

You will have to pay for a re-flash if you change your setup. You will have to re-tune your car regardless. Re-flash is typically cheaper then dyno tuning time.

There is nothing mild about bolting a turbo on to an N/A motor.

It will never have proper timing even with a BTM.

It's a cheapass solution that doesn't work.

Get Nistune. The board itself is like 300 bux and another like 30 for install if you ship your ecu to them. After shipping it will be around the same price as a SAFC/piggy back and it will be able to do a lot more than either of those.

You all know what this fella wants to hear... He wants everyone to tell him a SAFC is ok...

Someone somewhere told him once that they ran a t25 on their KA with a safc for a million years and it was awesome...

He just wants to hear that the 100$ part he bought was great...

The fact of the matter is - a safc is flawed by design.

SAFC is designed to reduce or increase the maf voltage to net the afr that you want... So say you told it to pull fuel - The afc lowers the maf voltage and you get the desired fueling - BUT AT WHAT EXPENSE??

The afc works by telling the ecu that theres less load than actually - so while the fuel is "fixed" and i use that term lightly... The Ignition timing is INCREASED since as far as the ecu is concerned you're not flowing any air. The car is NA stock and at WOT its seeing 26 degrees - so now you've lowered the maf voltage and increased timing more... It isnt good

You can tell a guy hes a cow everyday for a year - but next may 1st - you still wont have any milk.

I hope this helps without offending you. But the emanage is a terd, and the afc should be in the river. Standalone is obviously not in your budget... I would look for a local place that can rom tune your car.
