Another 1jz help thread..
I've searched and searched, but I couldn't find the answers I'm looking for. I have a 1jzgte vvti from a toyota soarer and I want to know where these plugs go into.
(brown, green, blue) (white, orange) Could these plugs be the reason my engine doesn't start? Engine has power to the injectors, fuel pump, and coils.. Any help is appreciated, thanks. Last edited by coBBz; 03-18-2017 at 07:22 PM.. |

I think you're right, there's no compressor on my car. I guess I'm still chasing gremlins trying to get this car to start..was hoping this was the reason. Appreciate the response man thanks.

Currently running a maf sensor. Haven't checked the cam and crank sensors yet, just got it to prime fuel and currently changing the grounds out. I'll check those tonight. Appreciate the responses by the way. Anything else that should be checked for a car that hasn't started since the swap six years ago?

Plugs were wet with gasoline when I pulled em after cranking for a bit. Checked the voltage on the plugs to the coils, it was getting 12v, but no I haven't visually seen them spark, I'll add that to the list of things thanks!

The crank angle sensor is lower left
1jz vvti IS an interference engine, you can butt-fuck the valves if the mechanical timing is off. Be careful.

Some background on the car just in case this might help.. Six years ago the previous owner had a running 2jzgte in the car and swapped it out for a 1jzgte.. Got the engine in and the harness done by Dr. Tweak in Phoenix, AZ. Harness came back and was never plug-n-play. After sending the harness back and forth the owner gave up on it and the issue was never resolved. Six years later, I take ownership of the car.. Harness is plugged up and the swap is complete, but still with the issue. Barely got it to crank a few days ago to check compression and all is good there. Some random relays here and there that I have no idea where they go, planning on removing these and anything unnecessary and wiring it up to it's original state before I start messing with it myself. Just trying to gather information on this swap because I can barely find any information about it. I really appreciate the help here, I hope others can take something from this thread as well. |

Trust me man, I want to.. badly but I have to give this one a chance and rule some things out before I drop a grand on a Wiring Specialties one. A lot of people say the 1jz ECU's like to shit on themselves too, so even if I get a new harness it still might not fire lmao lord help me

Just a little update for those interested. Sensors checked out. Got the engine to start after six years lol. It was completely missing a pin on the EFI Main Relay Switched Power and the igniter was bad. So now the engine turns over and won't rev pass 2000rpm. Upon further investigation there's a ton of pins missing and a few going to absolutely nothing. Might consider a plug-n-play harness or repinning the whole harness..
Again, I appreciate the help and suggestions. |

So I quickly made this little diagram of my ECU pinout compared to the JZZ30 pinout. Could these missing wires be the reason my car won't go passed 2000 rpms lol Yellow box is a random wire connected to that pin and the color of the wire. Red box is wires completely unattached. EDIT : This is the INCORRECT diagram... THIS ONE IS FOR THE 1JZ-GTE VVT-I and EVERYTHING checks out. Last edited by coBBz; 04-02-2017 at 09:02 PM.. |
