Is it possible to drop a V8 from, say, an Infinity Q45 into an S13?
Has this ever been attempted? I know a friend of a friend who dropped a 350 into a Miata so I'm certain that this idea isn't too far fetched. And since the Q45's V8 is constructed of aluminum, I wouldn't have to make radical modifications to the front suspension either. The only problems I see in this are: Engine size and the tranny. I'm going to the Infinity dealership tomorrow to take measurements, so if it doesn't fit, I can always swap a V6 from a 300ZX into the 240... |

Well, as your signature indicates your poor <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'> So dont be planning on swapping a Q45 or a VG 300ZX motor into your car.
All I will say about the Q45 engine is that is too big and will screw up your handling abilities. I dont think it will even fit, but of course with enough $$$ anything will fit. A possible solution to running a 300ZX motor is to get one from the 1st gen 300ZX. The VG30DET. the TT is to big IMHO. But it can fit, again for alot of money. I think a 1st gen 300ZX VG30DET would be kickass in a 240sx. |

to go along with the q45, there is no 5sp for the q45, unless u get something imported or something custom mated. that's one reason u don't see to many vq45de in z32's.

I have a friend thats been tossing around this idea about too. IIRC 4-5yrs ago there was a company, state side, doing the Q45 engine swaps into S14's ....but I can't remeber who.
Also, does the 240SX, 300ZX, and Q45 all share the same automatic tranmission? I know two of the cars shared an automatic transmission, but I can't remember. --Milk |
