24OLULZ S13 coupe build

est. June 21, 2011

The first day I brought her home was great. This is how I ended up buying my first 240sx.

I went to my friend’s house and when I pulled up I noticed that this beautiful coupe was sitting in her driveway. I was in complete awe. For a good 30 minutes I was just looking at this car and I knew it would be mine one way or another. When my friend came outside I told her I HAD to have the car but she said it was her brothers. BUT, he brother isn’t into cars and wanted his Toyota Avalon instead. So I had a good chance of owning the car. I had my friend find the keys so I could start it, it started up fine for the first time running in months! I was instantly in love with this car and I had to have it. It was my friends uncle’s car but he lived kind of far away and has a family and such and has no time for a project car. So I offered $2,000 which was a decent price. A week later the owner told me I could have it for $1,000 and it was a done deal. He said I could use the other 1K to fix it up, which it did need. Lol. He told me the clutch was shot and he was right. It was really a challenge trying to drive home. Oh, and the car hadn’t passed smog since Feb 09… I was in for a fun adventure.

Mind you, I was then working at Togo's (cali sandwich spot) making pretty much nothing, so I gave it my all to get this build up and running.

It had a bad clutch but I didn't care because I was in love, lol. I managed to get a ticket within the first two days of owning it.

Clutch went out on the day of my graduation party, while I was in traffic. Lol... So she sad for a while until I bought a new clutch. I was going to be cheap and buy an O'Reilly's clutch but I thought shit, if I'm going through the trouble of changing the clutch why not go legit? I ended up buying an ACT 6 puck clutch from enjuku racing for $406 shipped. I had the car on jack stands for about a week in front of my house because it was my first time doing this. I had troubles but a few friends and members from nor-cal240sx helped me out. When it was finished I was glad that I chose the ACT clutch, since I could chirp third on a bone stock motor. Lol.

I ran the touge near my house a few times with my friends and I loved it since I was finally the driver. But of course the night I go out alone with a girl for a cruise I understeer into the side of the mountain... Lol, snapped tension rod and bent LCA. Had to drive home on a spare, that actually went flat within 5 minutes. I also somehow burnt a terminal on my battery in the midst of this happening. Strange.

Then I ended up buying EMUSA aka ebay coil overs because I simply could not afford legit coils, sad story I know. They cost me about $440 and I was so excited to install them. After installing, I painted my wheels pink and tinted my stock tail lights and the infamous drift charm... Lol.

I picked up a white fender from my friend who had just got a silvia front end. I then thought it would be a good idea to just plasti dip my whole car, boy do I regret that...

Oh yeah, as for interior, I gutted it. Mostly cause I had a bad leak and water would collect, steam up in the heat and fucking stink. Blah blah blah. I also got a pink dildo shifter which people thought was so weird but I liked it. Oh, the ladies usually found it interesting. My boy albert gave me his short shifter, not sure what brand but it worked well.

After being tired of not getting sideways, I bought an open diff and took it to a gear shop to get welded. I payed with a 12 pack of beer. Lol, good deal? Oh I painted it pink of course. The night I installed it I tested it and I was fucking hooked. It locks so aggressively and I couldn't help but kick it out everywhere!

I painted the pink wheels black and traded for these, mesh rear, se front.

I joined the United States Air Force in November so this is where I start making "real" money and making semi big boy purchases. First off, wheels. I wanted something small so I could learn about wheels and such first.

I bought some cheap amazon exhaust for fun, cheap because I knew it would get banged up pretty bad. The brand is M2

A little bit of rain fun.

My friend Justin got me these tail lights as a welcome back gift from bootcamp.

and with them installed

I got my travel voucher so I spent it on a new front end that I regret buying... at times.

I then had enough money to go legit and get REAL coil overs. Of course I maxed them out. But maxed out on 15s is pretty painful yet fun.

I also got personalized plates, which is why the title says this.

Took my car to sonoma drift 6/6/2012 This was my first time on the track but nobody believed me. It was probably THE best day of my life, finally drifting on a course with no worry of cops.

Took of the stupid plastidip and sold my wheels, time to get a weeee bit more serious.

Ordered brand new ichiba 5 lug hubs from frsport, I'm not a fan of used parts

Then I bought rotors and my friend albert sold he his 350z spares. AWWWSOME!

DONE with the 5 lug swap, I'd rather install a new clutch than do a fucking 5 lug swap again. Shit was tough but worth it.

I had to buy some cheap O'Reilly spacers cause my front wheels were a bit close to the coil over.

This is how she currently sits.

And a rolling video so I could see how it looks.

I got a set of Saleen wheels as a trade for some other stuff I had, these will used as spares.

Just finally got all of PBM's links and will install them when I'm home next months. I also got a new battery and card for my DSLR so no more stupid iphone pics.

Please stay tuned for a nice build, I'm only 19 and I'm paying for all this stuff myself so please be a little patient. Thanks and be ready for updates!
