kaw's are cool... best bang for the buck... you could always spend 500 bucks and just get a 70's bike to learn and ride on..

Farzam: I don't think getting on a friends dirtbike is the way to learn. I had some riding experience, and got onto a dirtbike. A few minutes later, I'm limping back to the bike that was stuck on a pile of wood with a healthy sized branch goin thru the radiator, the rad shrouds broken off and some other small shit was fucked up. Did about $800 worth of damage. I mean, if ya got money to blow like that, go ahead, lol. Just be careful(to everyone). Anyhow, the more you know before you hit the road, the more you can concentrate on the other assholes that are out to kill you. Annnnddd. A store called Cycle Gear(80 locations, so there's probably one relatively close) gives out free stickers sayin "motorcycles are everywhere" or something like that. Get one, put in on your car, put it on your mom's car, put it on your girlfriend's car, anybody who'll let you put it on there. Don't worry about your sister's car, I got that one One last thing(s) lol. Painted lines, as mentioned above are a bitch. Tollbooths, are the WORST. Everyone who's car leaks oil goes thru them, and stops, and leaks, and continues on. So when you get there, stay away from the middle. Try not to put your foot down in the oil too. It's tricky, but I like to put my left foot on the curb, and try to leave my right foot on the peg so it doesn't get oil all over it. |

I can't find the link after 15 minutes of googling. I saw it on some crotch-rocket site where they had the basic specs (HP, 0-60, 1/4 mile, Redline, top speed... ) for every motorcycle to be made in 2008. Honda CBR600RR was 9.96, GSX-R600 was around 10.1? No link but yes I saw dragtimes.net and yes you're right. mid to high 10's for professional riders.

^^^ I looked at this, and wasn't going to post (because it's already been said), but there's no way that a stock (even lowered) 600 is running in the 9s. The Hayabusa ran 9.94 in ONE magazine (the rest turned low 10s) when it debuted...
Anyway, keep the dream alive Zilvians, if you want a bike just take the class to figure out which type of bikes you want to ride, and save for your first one. I'm still waiting for the first Zilvian Bike Lesson though, somebody's gotta be new and wanting to learn to ride better...

Here's my SV650S
This is my first bike and I love it a lot. I ride it whenever I can. Definitely I would recommend this as a first bike. But like some of the people said earlier, just don't be careless with it. Like people mentioned earlier, take the MSF course, you'll learn a lot from it |

Mehhhh. I'd describe it more so as the Buggati Veryon.
Its not to pretty, its heavy, its one of the most expensive bikes, but its faster then damn near everything else stock for stock. Z32's werent really that fast...

I started riding this spring and learned on my sister's EX250 while I was rebuilding my '78 Kawasaki KZ650 for my first bike. The only thing I don't like about my bike is the weight, seeing as how it's about 480 lbs dry ... sitting on and riding the 250 after being used to my bike the last 4 months is like sitting on a bicycle, the weight difference is huge and it is so much more maneuverable.
My next bike is going to be a Triumph Street Triple, just have to go put down a deposit on it. It's a 675, but I really don't see a need for a liter bike (for me, at least). There's no way I would be able to trust myself something with that much power for the street. Here's my KZ.. Oh and FWIW I took and recommend the MSF course. |

The Honda is still less powerful then the Yamaha but I'd take the powerband of the Honda anyday. Hondas are always known as being more forgiving and comfortable. Look at that nasty curve on the Yamaha, no fun
