question about sunroof removal

has anyone ever removed there sunroof from there s13 chassis? i recently purchase a s13 coupe, and the sunroof was put in i believe and i think the seal has a gone bad.. and i was washing the car and realize water was leaking through a lot of water... lucky i live in cali so there is no more rain for awhile! does anyone know any shop that can seal off the roof in orange county? welding shops or anything.. please help me out i want to get this done and over with.. thanks zilvias if this is on the wrong thread, i apologize..

What I would do is probably get a junkyar replacement, seems the easiest thing to do. You don't have to remove the entire sunroof, just the glass.

I had to do this a few years ago when fixing my interior sunroof slide cover. It's relatively straight forward when you are inside the car looking up @ the sunroof glass - just a few screws here and there, then pop it comes out. At least that's how I remembered it, haha.

Once you actually have the glass out, you can check (probably need a flash light or something) in between the part where the sunroof slides in/out to see if there are any obstruction/build up - there's suppose to be a drain hole somewhere there and if anything is blocking it (should be fairly visible garbage if there is), it could cause water to slowly drain, hence some getting in your interior also. That's another side problem you might as well check out if you are going to remove your glass.

if you want to seal it up you can use clear silicone. just seal the outside part. that's what i did with my pop up sun/moon roof. no more water inside
