S13 HUD worth it? will work on DOHC?
Hi i am in the market to convert my 93 coupe ka24de cluster to an HUD one, My windshield already came with HUD reflector so i figure why not only questions are ive heard good and bad reviews about them not working at all or half the time. can anyone speak from experience? also since my car came with DOHC motor is it just a straight swap or wiring needed? thanks.

Is it worth it ?
The answer is no. No matter if it works or not, it just is a gadget. From what i have read, they are a terrible pain to wire. Real HUD displays use a lens that focus the projected data to infinity, allowing you to see it at the distance you are focusing your eyes (like on jet fighters, or on BMWs). You need the lens system and a special coating on the windshield for that. Most HUDs projecting on windshield are just crappy toys that dont have the lens, meaning they are just projecting on the windshield. Meaning you dont have to lower your head, but you need to focus your eyes on the windshield instead of the road. and that sucks, because as soon as there is light coming there, it will be a pain to see. If you really badly want one, grab an ebay one, they are easier to wire ans surely cheaper. |

What the fuck are you talking about dude? There is no wiring involved w/ the OEM HUD. He clearly states that he has the HUD windshield. And even if he didn't have the windshield but everything else, a quick fix is a piece of mirror tint in the correct location for the projection. Quote:
Do you have the HUD dash, subharness and the projector? 99% of the time when the s13 HUD doesn't work, it's because of a capacitor. Search Google, there are quite a few topics on how to fix the HUD if it isn't working properly.
