alright
i keep forgeting to tell you guys how my internship went last summer. now i have the time to tell the story... once upon a time....(j/k) as y'all know..im an international student here at texas A&M im a junior taking a mechanical engr major... last summer i went home to indonesia(my home country) for the first time after 3 years of hard studying here in texas.. i went home for 3 months and while at it.. took internship program at CALTEX (chevron texaco) indonesia. it was fun actually.. i saw their oil fields and i saw how organized their managements are and the funny thing is.. i met a LOT of UT austin (longhorns) graduates there... they are working for caltex also... well lets just say i have a chat with most of them and ended up with quite a furious talk around football..(haha) enough about the internship thing... now im gonna tell you the interesting part... guess what... while i was there in indonesia... for a whole 3 months.. i saw 5 units of R34 skyline (white, blue, black, yellow, and silver), i saw 1 unit of R33 four door. i saw 2 ferrari maranello, 1 ferrari testarossa... and a whole lotta cool cars... but i didnt see a single S13, S14, nor S15 (strange) to tell you the truth, i was surprised... with monetary crisis and all other problems that indonesia have right now.. i think its impossible to see those pure japanese sport cars... and i was even more surprised when my cousin (his dad is a general in the indonesian army) ask me if i want to buy an imported R34. i was like.. whatt??!?!? i cant afford that!! and he was like... yea i know its expensive but its worthed believe me... and i asked, how much is it anyway here? he answered, around Rp 300,000,000.00 note: US$ 1 ~ Rp 10,000.00 do the calculation and you get a used R34 for US$ 30,000 !! i was like.. it cost like around 50~90 grand to bring a used R34 to US (saw the price on skyinegtr.com) no wonder i saw 5 skylines there... oh yeah and i also see a couple of illegal midnight racing there (yes they have one) and everytime i watched the race... the unbeatable winner is almost always this black EVO VI (yes.. LANEVO) but thats because all of the other racers drive integra type R, a LOT of civics, Mazda astina(RWD), and more lancers and thats about it.. just wanna share my experience over the summer with you guys... now im back and i have 3 exams this week.. i need a lot of good lucks from y'all later

Indonesia is a land of "haves" and "have-nots". $30,000 is more than most Indonesians will ever make over the course of their natural lives. Also with relaxed import laws and nonexistent customs, used cars in that region are pretty cheap in comparison to the US.
