don't buy gas an the 19th
IT HAS BEEN CALCULATED THAT IF EVERYONE IN THE UNITED STATES DID
NOT PURCHASE A DROP OF GASOLINE FOR ONE DAY AND ALL AT THE SAME TIME, THE OIL COMPANIES WOULD CHOKE ON THEIR STOCKPILES. AT THE SAME TIME IT WOULD HIT THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY WITH A NET LOSS OF OVER 4.6 BILLION DOLLARS WHICH AFFECTS THE BOTTOM LINES OF THE OIL COMPANIES. THEREFORE MAY 19TH HAS BEEN FORMALLY DECLARED "STICK IT TO THEM" DAY AND THE PEOPLE OF THIS NATION SHOULD NOT BUY A SINGLE DROP OF GASOLINE THAT DAY. THE ONLY WAY THIS CAN BE DONE IS IF YOU FORWARD THIS E-MAIL TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN AND AS QUICKLY AS YOU CAN TO GET THE WORD OUT. WAITING ON THIS ADMINISTRATION TO STEP IN AND CONTROL THE PRICES IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE REDUCTION AND CONTROL IN PRICES THAT THE ARAB NATIONS PROMISED TWO WEEKS AGO? REMEMBER ONE THING, NOT ONLY IS THE PRICE OF GASOLINE GOING UP BUT AT THE SAME TIME AIRLINES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES, TRUCKING COMPANIES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES WHICH EFFECTS PRICES ON EVERYTHING THAT IS SHIPPED. THINGS LIKE FOOD, CLOTHING, BUILDING MATERIALS, MEDICAL SUPPLIES ETC. WHO PAYS IN THE END? WE DO! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. IF THEY DON'T GET THE MESSAGE AFTER ONE DAY, WE WILL DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN. SO DO YOUR PART AND SPREAD THE WORD. FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW. MARK YOUR CALENDARS AND MAKE MAY 19TH A DAY THAT THE CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES SAY "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH" okay guys get this to everyone you can please. |

There are an estimated 180 million cars in america. If they all bought gas on different days, then 1/7th of those cars would buy gas on the 19th. That's 25.714 million cars buying gas. If the average fillup is 14 gallons (the few cars with 15 or 20 gallon tanks rarely drive to empty, while most new cars are 8-12 gallon tanks), then we're talking about 360 million gallons of gas in that one day. Take the average gas price of $1.94/gallon, and subtract 42% (the average ammount of state and federal taxes in america) to get $1.12/gallon. Now, 360 million gallons at $1.12 per is a total of 403 million dollars. That's only 1/10th of the ammount listed above. Sounds like someone forgot to carry a digit, and I assure you, it wasn't me.
Other than the potential $400,000,000 loss from the one day of gas strike, which gets divided between the top 3 fuel suppliers, everyone who was supposed to fill up that day but didn't will fill up the next day. As will the people scheduled to fill on the 20th. So the fuel industry's "stick" will be fixed the next day, and create problems at gas pumps from double the normal ammount of purchases, and will probably incite some gas station owners to declare price gouging, which means the gasoline companies make the same ammount of money, and the station owners will make 3 or 4 times what they would have normally made in those 2 days before the day-long gouge fest. Therefore, that propaganda's logic is retarded, it's math is flawed, and you are officially a moron for distributing this stinking load of bullshit. -Jeff

how in the hell can it be over a dollar from your normal prices. avg price = 1.94/gallon so if that is over a dollar were you paying like 90 cents a gallon? if so where do you live cause i will come down there with a tanker and stock up cause that is the cheapest gas has been for the last 30 years.

Until DEMAND on a LONG TERM BASIS can be reduced, any boycott like this will never work.
Until you start reducing your driving distance (or fuel consumption) by 10% yearly, and until the entire economy starts doing that, this won't accomplish anything. FYI the current gas prices (adjusted for inflation) is less than 50% of what the prices were when it peaked in 1978 due to a global shortage of crude oil. Be thankful that prices in the 90's were so level... Or did people seem to forget about inflation these days? -alex |

yes....its very sad that inflation is going on these days.
The rate of gas seems high...heck..its double from what I paid last year....but still...gas is the cheapest fluid by the gallon we pay for in America...and damn cheap compare to other nations.

Anyone have numbers on how much premium gas is in Nevada and compare it to So Cal prices? It's from the same So Cal refineries.
In So Cal the refineries determine the prices, and they've shut down some of their plants even though there is a stable supply of oil (find out where we actually get our supply of oil). This artificially creates a shortage. Unfortunately they have a monopoly on our gas supply and we can't resource out of state. The only thing than can bring the price down in Cali is if the current administration opens the federal reserves. Oil producing countries have some influence on the Cali price, but the decision ultimately depends on the refineries. Anyone remember the electricity shortage? I feel bad for the independent trucking companies, their getting screwed royally. |

No, not ride bikes gentlemen......... CARPOOL.......
thats the only way to beat it. If you take 4 guys who ride together to work (large work companies actually have sign-up sheets of people in your area to pool with for those who didnt know) and they split the gas 4 ways, but only use gas for 1 car, then the gas companies are losing out...instead of 4 tanks of gas being filled, its 1 tank of gas. If everyone started doing this more, than the gas companies would be hit hard..
