did someone back into something, or get slammed?
if you can have a shop verify that hte frame is str8, then ya, I'd rock it for a project car, if not, stay FAR away. i'm betting it has frame damage, but it's pretty hard to tell from the pix. |

If you have a hookup w/a body shop it may be worth it. Smog is right tho, the dollar value attached to a "like new-ish" repair job will be considerable... Salvage title? |

id say the 1/4 panel=1000
rear bumper=400 trunk=250 taillights=150 so...1800-2000 to repair that *IF* there is no frame damage

only buy it, if it has been verified by a body shop that it has no frame damage. Better to be sure than arsed out...imo

Yeah, well the only thing is that it is about 3 hours away. I am in the Navy so finding a free day to go down there just to have it checked out isn't really feasible. I sent the picture to a body shop here in town and they were talking about possible frame / rail / floor damage. None of which sounds cheap to fix. I told the guy I am going to pass on it unless he wants to come down a considerable amount on the price and even then I still might not bother with it.

I would say its not worth it to fix it, look at that quarter panel. I've done quarter panel body work and that is an assload of work, that will not be cheap to fix. You'll prolly end up dead even on the price your gonna pay to have it fixed, rather than buy a good one in exellent condition.

Yeah, i've just started getting into cars in the past 6 months., Obviously there is a lot I don't know. Stupidly I bid on the car on eBay a few days ago and won the auction for $2500. I was going to buy it until I found all this out. The description made it sound like an easy and inexpensive fix which is why I don't feel as bad about backing out. The guy is trying to pull the legally binding contract thing on me but I know how easy it to realist something and sell it to someone else.

If its a project car and the frame is strait then its an awesome deal. You can fix all that crap yourself with ebay parts and some learning experiences for much cheaper than it would cost to buy a decent condition 97 s14. I say go for it and do all the work yourself. It's really not HARD, it's just laborous and time consuming. Don't be a panzy, pull a Macgyver!

I've never even dealt w/ body work. I guess I could learn. I doubt I would mess with the quarter panel. I would have someone else do that.

$1500 and part it. But that's still paying high.

Same here. Why not get a hela clean blown motor s13 chassis for 1000-1500$ and spend the rest on making it very quick rather then repairing that car to a stock 240? If you want a 97 get a clean one in auto and swap it 5spd for less. You would have your 97 with out the stress. |

Mine now. That price included shipping from SC to NY. Great body and interior.

truthfully my opinion.... is that i am one of those who dont like downtime at all.. and if it comes to something simple i need to order to fix my car, if it involves ordering parts from a .com shop.. then i say no... reason why i wanna stick with the ka is that u can easily go to a parts store down the street and order the part right there... and get it right then... plus hp difference less money more hp and torque its been proven already lots of ppl know..ppl have been running ka's for ever.. very good durable engine if u ask me and theres no need to switch unless u want a rev happy motor..PLUS everyone knows the ka is the new SR...u could even source a z18et head and turbo parts setup direct drop for the 12 valve..
