Where does this downpipe bracket bolt to?

Hello, new here, doing a engine swap and need a down pipe I'm thinking about getting this one from ebay:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/For-Nissan-2...xXkUXn&vxp=mtr

I notice there are some bracket that reaches out... where the heck does this bolt to?

Is there supposed be some kind of bracket that comes out from the tranny mount that the cat/downpipe is supposed to bolt to? I'm just wondering because it my exhaust keeps falling apart (last one broke off at the cat) maybe the exhaust system isn't supposed to just be hanged by the exhaust hangers...

SHIEEETTTT... Damn dude... that hit it on the head...

I knew something was missing there when I took the tranny off. Anybody know where to get that bracket that or the part number? There's that 2 bolt that bolts to the tranny mount and extends out to the down pipe.

Also, I picked up another cat from another guy on zilvia and his cat has a little bracket coming out, kind of like this:

Is that supposed to be on an exhaust bracket or something? Sorry for all the noob questions... I am a totally noob...

Those ebay downpipes often have clearance issues with the steering shaft and sit low- 2-3" below the frame rail. I'd have someone build you a custom one so it tucks up really high JMO.

Thanks for the heads up man... but... custom... are there any off the shelf ones people would recommend?

Also... any input on that bracket would be much appreciated... This way my exhaust can stop falling off of my car

I have the ISIS downpipe and it was almost in line with the frame rails and like 100 bucks. Only issue was they don't have a flex joint. I welded one in. If I were to do it over I'd suck it up and get a PBM Cobra (which is what Im looking for now). The design is good for low cars, has a vertical flex joint, and includes a turbine outlet and downpipe as one piece.

seems like the ISIS one doesn't have the bracket to bolt onto the tranny mount... interesting... so many poor choices

Now the better question is, where to get the bracket that it bolts to, what's the part number... or... what's a better downpipe

I also bought ISIS one for 100$,

Fit great,

No flex (need to weld one in, caused some exhaust leaks at this point)

Welded on an adapter for use of that bushing, although it seems super flimsy and borderline worthless.

So that's 2 ISIS supporter we have. Anyone wonder how often the NSA and FBI show up in this joint?

Anyone had bad experience with flex. Some says the flex it the weakest point and it breaks at that point?

A flex-section, like anything, is a trade-off. It relieves some of the stress on the exhaust hardware, manifold and elbow, preventing them from cracking or breaking. However, it has a braided wire cover that has a larger diameter than standard pipe, therefore hangs lower, is more fragile, and is more susceptible to road and off-track damage.

And 240sx does not equal low budget. Check out some of the more popular build threads maybe
