I pulled just the trans out after i did my swap because when I went on my first test drive i found out the clutch was done. So yes you should be able to pull just the tranny.

I'd say maybe loosen the front subframe bolts as well as motormounts depending on if you have solid mounts or what. Should make it easier to get to.

I'm guessing the massive amount of tire spin made the dyno read alot lower then it should have.

A buddy owns a shop and his painter offered to do it. Its black with gold and prism flake on it. That flake is going in the engine bay and interior as well, just over a different color. should make it show alot more once everything is done.

Those of you with 2J swaps into S14's or even S13's for that matter, ever had any clearance issues with your hood?
My 1.5JZ is much taller than my old 1J, and now my hood won't close. I have the Zerolift engine mount brackets. I'm skeptical to try and lower the engine any more, I don't want oil pan sitting lower than the sway bar. |

I have a 2jz in a s14 and mine barely clears, using eBay mounts. I remember someone saying something about how they had to shave their rubber mounts or something to clear theirs, but I think it was an s13 with a na.

Traded my friend my SR for his near complete aristo 2jz swap. Just need wiring, and still waiting on mounts/driveshaft/shifter extension from turbo dave. That guy is wayyyyy too slow, not sure how he stays in business.
Ordered all new valve cover stuff yesterday. Gonna do the timing belt/front main/rear main/valve cover gaskets/pulleys and everything while I continue waiting for the swap mounts. Got all the stuff I need to make the exhaust with a fancy decat too. Can anyone say for sure which radiator hoses they used when running a KA radiator? If not I can just mock up/get rubber hoses, but was looking to get some silicone ones. |

I used a MKIII Supra Lower Samco Hose. For the upper, I cut the curve out of the upper water neck and made a custom hose to connect. Super easy. |

i used a MKIV Supra lower radiator hose, just needed to shorten it up a bit. I also cut the waterneck off and just ran to oreillys and found a hose, i'll grab the part number today.

Okay thank you guys!
I have the ecu and the harness, just gotta go about splicing the KA harness into it so everything else is still functional lol. Though I think my friend said one of the 3 main plugs was missing or something? The engine and stuff is sitting at my friend's house currently, but I'll take some pics of it when I swing by and do all the gaskets and stuff. And on a random note, has anyone ever tried moving that exhaust restriction valve to control boost? I'll be running straight exhaust, but don't want crazy high boost levels because of it, so I was thinking I could build some sort of "stop" for it (almost like a throttle pulley stop) so that way it leaves it open some, but not all of the way, if that makes sense. Edit: nevermind, that was probably a dumb question haha. I assume restricting the airflow would only control boost to the rear turbo but the front one would still be pushing more than I want it to lol Last edited by waste_of_space; 03-20-2012 at 03:52 PM.. |

Sorry for the late replies. Yes, the car lost a lot of power due to spinning on the dyno, haven't been back to see what it'll do now.
As for pulling the trans, you have to loosen/drop the front subframe and lower the engine a little. This allows you to get to the top bolts and turn the trans to pull it out. It's a whole lot easier than pulling everything together, and you shouldn't have to take your harness off or anything else for that matter. Video of the cars recent runs. A 2 step will help tremendously and I'm looking to get in the 10's on the r154 before switching to a powerglide and spraying it. s14 2.MOD - YouTube

not a bad mph on that run. get some better tires or try really launching it and see what it will do. It's getting there man, Nice to see some of the "og" JZ swappers still around.

Drivers side from a TT 300zx is def the hardest part to find. Also the companion flange is different so you will have to modify it or get a custom driveshaft. |

I bet you're ecstatic! lol aled - Thanks for the info you PM'd! I appreciate it bro!!! CDD200 - Do you have any larger pictures of your engine bay? Which intake manifold is that? Yessir! Got my mounts and shifter extension yesterday! All that's left is the driveshaft! Found a good lead on a harness so that's taken care of as well (:
Anyone else have trouble breaking their crank pulley loose?! Lol Today I'll be doing the timing belt/tensioner/front&rear mains/cam seals/ valve cover gaskets and swapping the waterpump out and dropping the motor in! |

No meth. That's on c16 and 23psi. My 60' times sucked ass(2.0 was my best) and I'm on 255 BFG's. It'll be getting a powerglide/spray/bigger turbo soon, so hopefully it'll be in single digits with some decent tires by then.
For hoses, I used the KA lower hose and cut the end off a little. The upper hose you can use an IS300 hose.
