Exclamation What condition is this turbo in? Time is running out!

hey all, i've been offered a GT2876R for my s14 at a very good price, but the problem is i wont get to view it as i've only got 24hours till the offer expires. here are some pics...

it even comes with a tial 38mm, this is going to put me forward ALOT on my budget. i put aside $1600 for the turbo and $350 for the wastegate, and this offer includes both of them for $1100 (NZ currency). what do you guys think? based on the pics can we tell anything about the turbo? does the internal gate welding look like it's been done properly? also you'll notice a small chip by the coolant feed, the seller reckons this DOES NOT effect the performance of the turbo or leak. what do you think? i have the oppertunity to buy a brand new GT2876R for 1600, would it be worth it to shell out the extra $850 for a brand new turbo and wastegate

Personally, I'd spend the extra $850 just for the assurance of getting a brand new turbo that won't be a nuisance later on down the road.

that would be a new turbo AND wastegate for $850, since this deal includes both of them and i'd have to buy em both new. if i were to buy the turbo new id get a gt2871r .64 instead of the 76 anyways (heard it's basically a better turbo). plus if i dont accept this deal i can get some kei office wheels i've been looking at

No, that turbo has been sitting out for sometime and is rusting. Wouldn't doubt if the seals have started to dry out. Not a big fan of external gates on a T2x.

thanks man, that was enough to put me off buying a used turbo for good. i agree that t2 turbos are better suited to an internal gate but i'm not too worried about loosing a little response. i've always run externals and they arent too strict on screamer pipes around here.
