auto to 5spd conversion
Anybody here know how much would it cost to convert auto tranny to manual for the s13?
Also, is there a shop in socal that can do this? |

it costs one grand or so from a shop...but i suggest to find someone that is parting out a s13 and buy a full 5 speed swap (pedal, tranny, master cylinder, slave cylinder, hard lines, ect) and maybe install yourself...

If you look on my clutch master cylinder you will see a stainless braided clutch line i got off ebay that runs from the master all the way down to the slave. It makes it nice and easy.
The swap normally cost around $300-$600 if you do it yourself

yea man. find the parts and install yourself. its basically a straight forward install. everything is in place and holes are marked. all u got to do is drill em out. it took me like 1 hour. And saving youself hundreds of dollars is alwayz a plus.

well i think total if u get the parts urself you'll spend about 500-600. if u take to shop w/o parts plan to spend like double that.. if u take to shop with parts, then plan to spend what i said above plus the labor charges...usually shops will charge about 11 hours time whatever there hourly rate is.. and some shops charge an overnight storage charge.. i did mine in my vert and i spent about 800, because i went ahead and bought stage 2 clutch and fidanza flywheel. i got other parts cheap. plus my uncle has a shop, so i did work my self with a little help.. GL with swap.. but i tell u what its worth it... |

God damn $1,400? That's stupid high. I'd expect the damn drivetrain to be gold plated at that price. Is a quality clutch kit, light weight flywheel, and aluminum drive shaft included?

did mine for 1k in 13 hours and 10 beers total=$1011.82.
includes getting tranny overhauled, aluminum 1 piece shaft, fidanza flywheel & short shifter, boss clutch & plate, nismo shift knob, everything else = junkyard. didn't waste money on a manual ecu and manual tranny harness. don't need them. |

oh no, i took the tranny to Anahiem Gear to get overhaulled only cus they were able to get it done in less than 24hrs. i didn't feel like ripping her apart, then waiting on parts to come in for a week. besides, D1 irwindale was in two days and i had to get my baby ready for it. only thing i did was switch the bell housing from sr to ka.
oh yea, advice to OP. DON'T JUST ACCEPT A TRANNY FROM ANYONE AND IMMEDIATELY THROW IT ON! best advice i can give u. at least spend whatever.. $80 for a tranny inspection before installing it to make sure it works good. nothing worse than wasted effort in putting something like a tranny on and having to take it back off.. only people u can trust are us zilvians (with good feedback of course) OH OH! need a release bearing??? course you do! i have 2. need 1?? |

psshhh, the first guy to buy 1 from me said his kit didn't come with a release bearing, pilot bearing, or even an alignment tool... its not even a kit anymore. but, i can figure why he got the clutch & plate for pennies.

probably some ebay crap. I'm going with an exedy stage 1 organic. been running the exedy oem disc and now want something a little better. Finally going to put in my Fidanza and probably order a DSS Aluminum driveshaft as well.

the fidanza flywheel is cool, noticeably quicker reving. time it takes for ur rpm to come down between gears is noticeably shorter. if ur getting exedy, should stick with the brand. i believe the weight is the same. but exedy is mainly engineered around itself, just as fidanza is. look into their 2:1 clutch kit.
