For S14 owners who hate the pattern on the door panel inserts!!!!
I had heard from a friend about the possibility of dying the cloth to get rid of the gay patterns that most S14 have (especially my '95 SE). It's a no brainer that black would look the best so I went and bought this stuff called RIT Dye.....can be picked up at most craft stores and I think Wal-MArt as well.
Mixing and application process is simple as they come. You warm up some water and depending on how black you want it is how much powder you pour in. I used a small dish with about half a cup of water warmed up pretty well. Mix it up and well...and I used a large kids type of paint brush to aplly it on. Did one good soaking and let it dry for about 3 hours and did one more apllication and the end result came out really nice and black.....still can barely tell the pattern is there, but you EALLY have to look at it closely. You guys are going to kill me cause I don't have pics, but I'll try and get them up soon..... -Bill

Yeah I remember thinking about doing that too but I didn't end up doing it for the fear that the dye will rub off on my clothes whenever I'm in the car. It also has a strong smell I believe. Doesn't the instructions say you have to rinse off the dye and then let it dry?

The smell isn't all that strong...even when first applying it, it wasn't all that bad. Again, I made sure to let it dry thoroughly outside before re-installing it into the car.
And sorry for the select few that think my post is "worthless w/o pics"....I'm working my best to get ahold of a friend with a digicam so as to upload pics. I atleast thought I'd share the good news for the S14 folks. I know my ass ain't the only one that isn't the biggest fan of the patterns and are looking for a cheap decent fix before heading off to an upholstery shop.... -Bill

The first post about not having pics got the point across...the second was useless and pissed me off. I normally am chill here, but it was a rough morning...lol...hence my reaction.
And no I won't be wasting my time buying disposable cameras and shit when I'll be able to get the pics taken by a friend....thanks for the tip though. -Bill
