Recently I met up with a friend I have not seen in a while. He told me that when he was up at Azusa, MTV2 was filming some "special" about racing up in the canyons. There were a lot of cars up there that night, he told me. "A lot" more than a regular nightly canyon run. Most were RIcers, but w/the exception of a few real drifters.

This is not looking good at all. If the Special ever airs on TV, all it will do is create unwanted attention to the canyons from Ricers and the LAW. The last thing I want to hear/see is a Honda crashing into a real Drifter in the middle of a drift. Especially with Initial D coming stateside...I feel many accidents are going to come about. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/nervous.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':nervous:'>

What do you guys think??

I agree. It sucks but, not much you can do. I'll shake my fist violently at mtv, other than that you can just cross your fingers its a rumor or it doesnt get aired. As for initial d, we're just plain fucked.

Thats not good, I don't know if cops will start coming over there, but if anything they will come once or so. I say wenenver it airs you should avoid the place for like a little bit, and tell as many people as you can, then the cops wil stay away. The chances of cops going there all the time are ver slim, I am guessing its adeserted place, so the cops will probably stay in the city. So juss stay low profile for the next montj or so.

MTV is kinda stupid, they aired a special on marijuana and how drug dealers hide thier trees in places, kinda gave away all these secrets. Are you sure it was MTV2 not MTV 1, cuz MTV2 does all music no stories. They prolly will make a special soon though.

Ya thats what I'm thinking.  Or maybe the crew just shoots for MTV 1 and gives it to them.  Either way, this sucks.

ohh this is gonna suck.. i hope this isn't the beginig of the end!.. personally peopel shouldn't drift on public road anyways.. unless they know it';s shutt off, or u do it really late.. and u stake it out properly.

Ugh, you guys this happened more than a month ago. It wasnt actually MTV that was up there, it was a film crew from T-Bone films (or something) that was possibly doing a job for a new MTVs true life.

Another thing, "Kanekz", Im not trying to be a prick but I appreciate it if people will just keep this so "spot" to themselves and not posting it on a forum where hundreds of people view it. As for cops, theyve been cool and giving us a chance to be up there but dont want crazy kids going up raising hell and crashing all the time cause they cant drive worth shiet.

man the cops know all about that already... they didnt give away any secrets as to how people make marijuana.  especially those narcotics officers.  cops know more than you think, they know all the race spots (at least around here and i doubt that cops in other areas are stupider than miami cops).  ive talked to cops before and they know them all.

remember last year i heard Azusa from friends, last April if i remember there were many ppl know such a nice mountain road there, but don't know why recently these months ...start to get a lot of people...altho i don't go up like i used to like last year, but i go up once a while in the morning, sometimes at night ........BUT SIGH!!! WTF!!! HOW MANY WANABES are gonna go up there and ruin such a nice road ....i see many tire marks, tree crashes or even walls damamges ...obviously these ricers, damn it.!!!

i heard azusa isn't the same anymore, it used to be fun where people go to challenge the canyon roads and show their skills....
i don't have a 240 yet... but i used to go there with my friends every saturday night, i have prelude sh... i normally go with my friend with a 91 hybrid integ... but now he has a sw20 and a fc3s as a project car.
i was hoping to go back to azusa when i return to the states and buy a 240.... but i think i might have to find another place now..
a few mishaps already happened there with my friends:
3000gt - hit side of mountain - few scratches on front bumper
91 integ - ran off road and spun - bent crossmember
02 wrx - hit guard rail - damage to bumper and rear 1/4 panel
s14 240sx - hit side of mountain - severe damage, neede tow truck to pull out... flat bed to tow...
all this was dangerous but it was incredibly fun, now we all much search for a new place to drift, grip, or what ever we do on the mts....

the real thrill is when you're goin faster than the car in front of you, and you take that chance.. and you pass him...
damn.... now that's a rush, especially with the narrow 2 way roads, gotta time it perfectly

Just know this....with all of the populairity that initial d and Mtv will bring to drift think of the positive before you think of the negative. Although there will be more jackass' wrecking themselves on the street think of all the track events that will be created as well. As that is the positive, the only real negative is that those who do race on the mountin are probably gonna be shelling out alot more $$ for tickets because of the boosted awareness. And of course, as in everything there are going to be people who suck.....so I challenge you to not only observe the negitive(easy) but also to find the positve in things as well(difficult?).

P.S. any "ricer" who has the balls to take is honda to the mountin has alot more respect from me because he wants to take the corners and not just drag.

P.P.S you cant write every mark made in a wall from a car as from a ricer, sure some are but i bet most arent...if you really do drift then you expect to hit the walls once and a while...the only way to get better is to push your self to the limit and because everyone is human they are bound to make mistakes once and a while.  I would really like to meet these "hashiriya" who just decided to jump into a car one day and instantly become a god who never has or will crash.  Everyone has to start somewhere...do you think that Keiichi Tsuchiya was just born good...I dont... i think he spend years taking the corners of mountin pass until he made it big in the circuts and later went on to national fame as one of the best drivers in japan.  Hmm I wonder how many times he crashed maybe we should ask...i bet he lost count a long time ago.

i agree with 240Dori... we all need to start somewhere... and really doesn't matter what cars we use either.  as long as we have the guts to just go out there and try... and strive to be better...

about 2 yrs ago, i didn't even know how to drive stick that well... but now i can keep up with RWD and AWD cars at azusa, with my honda prelude sh.

Too lazy to make a new post but MTV is making another special. I don't know how many of you watch the show flipped (I don't), but I just saw that they are doing one where someone dies in Drag racing, I am not familiar with flipped, but the title siad Imma speed demon. I saw some gay cars, the only one could point out was a yellow hatchback civic. I don't know how many of you watch the show flipped (I don't), but I just saw that they are doing one where someone dies in Drag racing, I am not familiar with flipped, but the title siad Imma speed demon. I saw some gay cars, the only one could point out was a yellow hatchback civic.
