Low Society's S13 Build
Well, After owning this car for 4ish years, And many different "builds" on it, I think I finally have enough to be worthwhile to make a thread, as things are coming to an end.
Bought the car when I was 18, I am not 22.. Alot of things change, and this thread should doccument this fairly well. I will seperate the thread by Versions. We will call this Version: 1.0 So, The car started its life as a BEAUTIFUL 90 Hatch, Stock suspension when I bought it, It had some soundsystem, a Custom made exhaust, along with headers, and "gladman" tail lights.. The car didnt say this way for long.. Version 1.1 Than came.. The car than got some blown K-sport coils, cause all I wanted to be was LOW! Bought some 17x7's and thought I was HARD AS FUCK! Car stayed like that for a bit, minor editions of body kit peices, Untill the day It got Vi'd... At that point I stopped caring.. With that came- Version 2.0 Version 2.0 was probably my Favorite.. Car was clean and simple with such mods as: xxr 002's 16x8 -0 Gp sports kit, Megan Drift spec Exhaust Cusco 6pt bolt in cage. Version 2.50 Although version 2.0 was great, I needed more oomph. So to add to the growing mod list, DSM 14b turbo Log mani Sr-smic Aem Fic Ect.. Drove the car like that for ages, It was super fun untill the timing chain started to rattle like crazy, couldnt keep up with the oil leaks, than the Turbo ate it self.. So I sold that setup off, and started a new chapter in the book. Version 3.0 This is really where everything with the car went to hell in a hand basket.. I pulled the car off the road In hopes of tossing my build together.. This is what I started out with.. Anyone that has built a motor knows, It never stops at what you think it will.. Soon the AN lines started coming.. One piece stainless that.. one piece stainless that.. and Dolla bills start throwing down.. That gave us a rough idea of where everything would sit, and what we thought would clear, Soon didnt even come close.. We quickly went back to the drawing board, and choped the mani appart, clocked the turbo on it, and built from there.. Finished the product looked like this.. Leaving me with an engine spec that looked like this: Ka24e 10xxx of stock rebuild. Aem F/IC All emissions removed, Egr welded/butterflys removed. O&J racing Stage 2 Hydrolic cam Turbonetics T3 super60 Hi-fi -4 Earls SS feed line -12 Stainless return Custom Stainless 3" down pipe 3" Megan test pipe 3" Megna drift spec cat back Emusa 38mm wastegate 9psi Gladman Topmount manifold Stainless 2" atmospheric wg dump Stainless 2.5" 1 piece hot pipe Stainless 2.5" 1 piece cold pipe Ebay Fmic core Oem Fuel rail modified for -8 ss lines Aeromotive Regulator -6 return Md Auto Catch Can -10 feed/return Md Auto Coolent overflow tank 300zx fuel filter Various T-bolt clamps and couplers At this point, I spent 3 months figuring out issues, burning through over 12 pairs of plug wires on cylanders 2/3.. Finally purchased a DEI turbo blanked and solved that issue, Than bringing me to the issue of the AEM FIC.. It seemed everytime I turned the Key and started the car, the tune would change, The car was hella fast, sometimes it would run amazing, sometimes, It wouldnt run worth shit.. After spending the sums of money I did on this setup.. I realized it was go Standalone or bust.. After dealing with problem after problem, I lost sight on this engine.. I figured the 1500 + for standalone than my time to wire, and yada yada yada, not knowing what was going to go wrong next, I would be better off to go back to simplicity.. Atleast that would get me to the track, Where I really at heart wanted to be! The last time the car was driven was to Driven To Perform to represent my buddys shop.. Version 3.5 The car sat for a long time, while I tried to figure out if I was going to go Standalone/Different setup.. Needless to say, I started a new project, What better way to teach your self to weld than to stitch weld the chassis Firewall back... This was one hell of a project, I never knew how much really went into this before starting it.. Version 4.0 - The RedHead Stepchild Out came the SOHC.. When the engine left, I felt a huge weight off my chest.. At this point I didnt know what direction I was going engine wise Sr/Rb20/25.. I was just looking for a good deal. I picked up a Rb20 off my boy Pete from Neptune Drift, for a hell of a deal.. Sat on it for a while, saving money to collect parts.. Meanwhile installed my angle mod's. The car sat for a while.. Than one night, I was cruizing Facebook, when my buddy posted up that he still had his SR from an abandonded build.. It was within my price range, and in theback of my head I knew the Liniar power of the RB wouldnt compliment my driving style.. So I quikcly flogg'd the Rb at a slight proffit, and Jumped on the SR. It Came with all the nessicary supplies: Tranny Os giken Ts2b Apexi Downpipe Rad. And a shit ton of other goodies.. Only downside a blown t28. All for the low low price of 1800 CDN. At that point I started stripping the bay, for paint. With a little bit of cursing and fighting she went into the gape beautifuly.. I than started modding the Ic piping from the Ka- to fit. That than left me with this. Richmond-20120223-00135.jpg picture by Maccie - Photobucket While the engine was going in, My buddy Jack from ITSA Fabrication was welding in my FD legal Cage bent by Fortress Fabrication. My girl Daisy laid down some great leadership qualitys throughout this portion of the build.. At some point I aquired some Kouki Tails to put the finishing touches down on the exterior (minus needing paint) The Car than hit its first track day: Wich leaves us where the car sits Today.. Spec list as of rite now is: S13 "Redtop" Sr20det 1 Piece Stainless ic piping Front mount Walbro 255 Apexi Down pipe Megan 3" drift spec cat back Megan test pipe Trans/diff. Aem UEGO Defi Replica Boost, Oil Press, Oil Temp, Coolant temp Fortress Fab FD spec Roll cage Stitch welded The car will be going in for paint within the next couple months, Still undecided on colour tho. Thus summing up 4 years of my life, and all my expendable cash.. |

I've been thinking about PBMs as well, but just to have a low ride, but for tracking IDK how they would fare since they are drift coils.

Finally started pushing my self to put the pieces of the puzzle together today.. Went down and got some PPG mixed up.. Got a half quart of "copper glow rootbeer" Going to spray one of my spare fenders down friday, and see what it ends up looking like.. It may be too dark.. It was ither a rootbeer color, or HOK PBC40.. I still want to be able to cruize this car to and from track, and local meets, So I decided against something that punches bros in the jugular, and bitches in the box.. Who knows, If I dont like this, I may end up back to something super obnoxious, cause that ALWAYS looks good. |

Thanks Jesse!
Well, Where to start.. Wensday I started prepping a spare fender to test the new paint colour got that finished off.. Today, I dicked arround all day, than started doing some wiring.. I figure I can run 12v into all the relays from the same source as there shouldnt be much current draw, the first one will trigger the ignition circut, seccond will be e-fan and gauges, and the 3rd one is undecided at this point, likely fuel pump. Also Figured I can do the same thing for the 12v switched signal. Plan on doing some reading on it tonight, and see what happens from there.. Got a call from my buddy, and said he was planning on doing a bit of spraying tonight, and told me to bring my paint and fender down.. This is what we got.. |
