S13 Hood Damper Replacements

I got a set of hood dampers on my car however from sitting this winter they leaked out and lost pressure. Instead of buying another $70 kit has anyone figured out a replacement damper that just snaps in place? Sometimes you can find these dampers for like $10 on rock auto. I just need to know the pressure needed and measure the length. I was hoping there would be a part number of sorts on the damper itself but no avail

Check out Redline Tuning. These guys are local to me and used my car as a test model to develop the S13 kit back in 2010 or so:

Very helpful guys- they might be down to sell you an individual strut or give you the specs if you reach out to them.

I'd say go to a u-pull yard and look around, every other vehicle has some type of support strut. Most have the same ball joint/locking clip connection. Compare the old one, find a close match and try it out. Just went to a yard yesterday and grabbed a pair for my suv, chick at the counter gave em to me for free, back in business. Good luck!

The ones Camry posted are opposite to mine, mine bolt to the center fender bolt hole and go to a bracket bolted to the hinge. And I might just do that. Plan A is one of my close friends is a geek ass engineer so I might have him calculate the pressure needed based on hood weight and shit lol

The Redline Tuning ones I posted state that they work for factory metal, fiberglass, and carbon fiber hoods. Cant say I have ever tried it, but they claim that to be the case.

sounds interesting ,would really like to get a set for my fiberglass hood ,not seeing any email address listed on their site to get in contact with them ,ALL other hood strut manufacturers advise not to use on carbon fiber or fiberglass hoods as cracking would occur ,just need to know what set these struts apart from the others cause i dont want to crack my hood

Yeah I have always been curious about that as well. Not sure why these would be any different, but maybe they could answer that question for you! Their email address is [email protected]
