Based on your current list, I'd have to suggest:
(Songs you might know in parenthesis) The Crystal Method (Name of the Game, Born Too Slow) Rise Against (Give It All, Ready To Fall, Prayer of the Refugee) Social Distortion (Story of my Life, Ball and Chain, Ring of Fire) Queens of the Stone Age (No One Knows, Little Sister, 3's & 7's) A few bands I listen to: Bad Religion (Infected, Sorrow, You) Pennywise (Alien, Bro Hymn) Street Dogs Cake (Never There, The Distance, Short Skirt Long Jacket) Flight of the Conchords (Business Time, also known from their show on HBO) Ska-P Suicide Machines (New Girl [Tony Hawk]) Silversun Pickups (Panic Switch, Lazy Eye) John Mayer Trio (Who Did You Think I Was) Millencolin (No Cigar [Tony Hawk]) Swingin' Utters (Five Lessons Learned [Tony Hawk]) |

There are a couple of music review sites that I use to find out about new stuff.
Metacritic.com Allmusic.com pitchfork.com Public Radio here in socal, kcrw.com 89.9 fm, also has some pretty diverse and up-to-date play lists. They have a website w/ 24 hr dj's and play-list archives. There's a very diverse selection, with most of the stuff in rock, indie-pop. Some of the stuff is popular, others are very obscure. Also lots of studio live performances in their archives, etc. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KCRW 88.9FM (NOT to be confused w/ 89.9) KXLU is more purely orientated to rock, many of it recorded by smaller, non-corporate bands. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KXLU Also try out Pandora in your computer/iphone. Not guaranteeing you will like that stuff, but you did ask for something new. IMO, there's so much enjoyable music out there right now, it's not easy and super time consuming to keep up. The challenge is really more about finding music that is accessible to you, rather than finding good music in general. |
