Get an s13 motor for super-power. The vtc is usually disabled on all hi-po s14 or s15 motors, and on the s15 motor, the general idea is that the 6-speed tranny will eat gears at more than 350hp.
Ohh.. and use the search.

Also, go for an S13 blacktop motor. Easier to assume lower mileage on it.

As for the 6-spd tranny, the prob might be the speed sensor wiring more than it's strength. I don't think anyone has proven if it's actually that much weaker or not.

Just take the theory behind it. There are 5 gears that completely fill the bellhousing in KA and s13 and s14 trannies. In the s15, there are 6 gears to completely fill it, which means the gears are smaller. I'll go with that theory. Each gear is 20% smaller in the 6-speed.

Yeah, but is anything known about the materials of the gears, the amount of material that could be removed to accomadate larger gears inside the tranny, or the full amount of power the SR tranny can withstand?? I mean, assuming you could sandwich smaller synchros, or place gears closer together, it might be possible to fit smilar width gears in the 6-spd. So, really is theory vs. theory.

And all of them are as reliable as some guy making invalid assumptions, most based on some earlier invalid assumption. You're assuming the output shafts are the same length, and the tranny casings are the same size. In reality, the tranny cases are not the same.

hey kids! its your favorite dj, mixedwell! yay! okay anyways i've actually had the chance to help my friends at motoRex build a 450+ hp Silvia S15 w/ six speed transmisson. now contrary (is that spelled right?) to belif, the six speed transmission was actually holding up nicely. now our reason for doing all this was just to see how fast we can get the s15 to go. the tranny had stock gear ratio and even stock clutch (but not for long). now all i can say is that the s15 6speed trans can hold alot of power. that 350 hp thing sounds ludicruious to begin with. there. i know from experience. in fact i win.

on another note, i belive the S13 SR20DETs are great SRs. although they do lack the VTC that people are so happy in ditching. but if you ask me i think the s14 SR20DETs are the best. well, if you put it inside a s13/s14 240sx. for power to relibility is concerened, a nice s14SR w/ GReedy FMIC, BOV, and boost control. set at 10 psi and you have one nice fast SR20det. thats just my 2 cents.

ps- when we built the s15, we didnt sacrafice the VTC. we didnt want to mess with it in the first place.

holla

HP doesnt matter to transmissions, its torque that kills them?

How much torque was that s15 motor making what kind of mods?
