s14 s14 advice needed. Anyone?

hello zilvia, just would like to start this off by saying i AM a active honda enthusiast and i am well known across the honda forums and well respected for my vast knowledge on honda engines.

Anyways, besides all of that i have no idea what i have gotten myself into...

My brother in law and I both have went out and purchased 240's. They are both 95 SE models and both are auto, keep in mind both have no engine or transmission. Well we are lost, how else can i put it? If you feel the need to flame me go right ahead i could care less. I just need some input on what we should be getting to do the swaps in these 240's. We have been browsing online about info on swaps and at first we were interested in rb20det swaps but from more detailed reading i see now that it is a crappy swap if you leave it basically stock (which is what we want to do with exception of some minor mods)

basically what i am asking of zilvia.net is to give us advice on what all needs to be purchased to get them running and driving nice and solid.

I am leaning toward the black top sr20det (s14 jdm) swap but we are just very unsure of any of this...

I hate seeing threads like this on the honda forums where people just randomly ask "hey how do i swap a xxxx engine swap in to my ______"
So i am apologizing in advance for my nissan noobness but we are two guys in need of some damn help!.

TIA

I suggest you take sometime and read ALL of the swap information out there. Use your common sense(I hope you have some) and differentiate between what is BS and words of advice. It's a straight forward swap for an SR motor set(I suggest you do that until you familiarize yourself more with these chassis). Anything outside of the SR and you'll need mounts and other accessories to make them work. Wiring can be handled through WiringSpecialties for most of the swaps.

I personally like the S14 motors over the S13 motors. VTC makes the motor a completely different animal.

well i do have common sense which is a good thing lol. Buying mounts is no problem, wiring is what i am not comfortable about. Does anyone sell a harness that you can just hang on the rb20/25 and will just plug into the car and everything work?

A/c is not needed, power steering is needed.

I am afraid i may need to get a sr20 black top s14 swap to start with.... i really wanted to do a rb

also the car is an automatic, so i assume the 5 speed pedal assembly bolts directly in as well as the clutch master cylinder. Now what about the area where the shifter comes up through the floor...what am i gonna find when i remove the auto shift assy?

The S14/S15 SR is a very good motor and the one I rocked for 3yrs. Wiring Specialties sells drop in harnesses.

Do some research, it's all here and has all been covered a 1000 and 1 times, just like everything on the Honda forums. Earn your keep.

dude this site set up is just honestly confusing me a bit. can you point me in the direction of where the "how-to's" and "swap guides" are at? like ones that show you how and what you SHOULD be doing.

also do you have any idea whats underneath the auto shift assy? i mean can i unbolt the auto shifter assy, and the new 5 speed shift will simply go right through the hole? Or do i need to find a junk 240 and cut the floor out of it and weld it in??

Dang same boat as you, im still a noob to S14s I recently bought mine...but running with a KA24DE and its my daily and so far I love it but im looking into either swapping to a SR or just fixing up my KA to a KA-t. It really depends on what you want and sticking to it. cause a lot of ppl have different taste and different pockets. I aint rich so im leaning more into just making my KA to a KA-t cause its cheaper to upgrade internals and turbo it. but good luck with the build.

Since you asked so nicely

http://zilvia.net/f/archive-faqs/ - most common stuff you're looking for is here.

http://zilvia.net/f/tech-talk/237660...swap-info.html

And since you're leaning towards the SR swap. It's a lot easier than the RB swaps since the SR came factory in JDM land.

thank you this is exactly what i was looking for! Like i said i know this thread is one of those that you well seasoned nissan folks hate and i know how you guys feel because when a noobie asks these type of ?'s on the honda forums we all get fussy and get onto them about not knowing what they're talking about.

Well heres the deal. i bought a ka24de complete assy. Here's what i got for now, until i sell one of my hondas so i can afford a s14 jdm sr20det swap this is what we will be working with and I am doing this in attempt to "familiarize" myself better with the s14 chassis.

ka24de complete with trans (5spd)
ecu
harness (kind of a long harness) (is there 2 pieces to the harness??)
front half of the driveshaft where it goes TO the trans.

what else do i need besides a 5 speed pedal assy?

ok in that write up it says i need both halfs of the driveshaft? the guy i got the ka24de swap from said i only need the front half of it so i have the front 1/2 of the d/s. Do i need the rear half?

and also i see it says i need a 5speed 240sx s14 crossmember? is this true or will the auto one work?
