KA Problem Starting Car: 95' 240sx (KA24DE)

Hey,

Would like some input about the problem I'm having with starting my car.

It's a 95' 240sx LE with a KA24DE. When I stick the key in and try to start the car, it sounds like it partially starts but just doesn't get there. It's not the battery; all my electronics work. I thought it was the distributor cap/rotor so I replaced that because it looked pretty worn out when I took it off. I also changed the spark plugs, now using NGK Iridiums.

After replacing the distributor cap/rotor/spark plugs, it still wouldn't start immediately but after playing around with the gas pedal, it started. Since then, I've started the car a couple times without problem but the engine makes a faint clicking noise... "chik chik chik".... constantly.

Any ideas as to what the problem could be? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Barry

Probably your starter is seized.

battery could be dead. a weak battery is strong enough to turn on your electronics but not strong enough to turn over the engine.

engine could be flooded. liquids dont compress -> locked.

starter could be dead. bang on it with a hammer. alternately, try push starting the car.

try starting your car while someone taps your starter with a hammer. by tap, i mean, "hit fairly damn hard" and the "chik chik chik" could be a tensioner or a chain guide or a valve. Try to figure out where its coming from
