Fire from fuel pump wiring?

I just installed a new walbro 255 pump and it comes with connectors to crimp the wiring together but instead I sottered the wires and wrapped them in tape.

My question is can the wiring spark somehow and start a fire or explode?

Ive read that it cant because its submersed in liquid but right now my gas tank is pretty low and the gas would not be enough to fully submerge the wiring or pump

Ive also read that because of the pressure there is no oxygen for a fire to start but being that I just put the pump in and havent started it I would assume there is oxygen in there from being exposed to the air
