Noise coming from the rear

I keep on hearing a thump noise every time i go over a dip and it sounds like its my floor jack hitting my driver side rear fender from the inside but when i took out the floor jack it still makes the noise. i am currently running megan track coilovers on my 91 fastback if that matters.

do i need new bushing?

i was thinking its my bushing since its a old car.

anyone know?

Thanks!

You can check to see if you have slop in your subframe bushings. It's a pretty common issue on any S-chassis.

i was thinking it was the subframe bushing. planning on getting the Aluminum subframe bushing to see if that would help

sounds like subframe bushings... but you should just go ahead and check all your suspension in the rear. Also check to see if there is no loose bolts or nuts including the coilovers. Also check your exhaust. Good luck

the last time it was making that noise i was from the front and turned out it was my megan coilovers so i had to tighten them. after that the noise went away. now the rear is doing it so i tighten the coilvers up too and its still making the same now. im just gonna purchase me a bushing kit along with my aluminum bushings.

i had the same issue a long time ago. jack up the car see if one of your wheels drops enough so that the spring is loose, if it does drop enough you need new struts/coilovers, yours is blown. and what your hearing is the spring settling back in the perch.

or you have a rusty/worn out car and you hear the chassis flexing at the shock towers (seen that issue, never had it)

could also be a number of other things as well. how low is your car? think maybe your scraping or bouncing off the bump stop since it only happens in "dips"

hummmmm! shouldnt i leak oil from the coilovers if it is blown? i highly doubt these are blown because i had these for nomore than 25,000 miles.

btw, i had the same noise in the front and turns out the nut holding the coilvers was loose and i tighten it up with an alley wrench and a monkey wrench. from that day on the noise never came back. i think its the same problem but when i try to tighten it up it feels like its not getting any tighter.

my rear is low where the rear fender slightly cover my tires. i dont think its too low because i just started hearing this noise about 2 months now.

I had the same problem on my 14. i have pbmax coils. I actually picked up a bushing kit and replaced all my bushing (that weren't replaced with pillow ball mounts yet) and with new sub frame and collars it all went away.
