Max cooling for pignose; cutting nostrils out?
Hi,
I've already upgraded radiator and cut out the grill on my pignose. Im fitting cooling panels to direct air towards the radiator. I'm looking for more cooling while hwy driving. City driving temps are fine. I've been thinking about cutting out the nostrils of the pignose to help let more air in. A friend of mine also told me that his sr used to run hot until he cut the underside of the bumper overhang. I may try this also. Thoughts? |

I've cut the nostrils out of about a dozen pignoses, not sure if it helps all that much but it looks better IMO.

Well I have a big turbo motor that likes to run hot... And a really big ic... *warning: it's not a "pretty" car, and isn't intended to be one* Here's the pics: I already had the grill cut out before, but I'm thinking now more air coming in via the cutout in the overhang is helping also - along with the nostrils cut out. That's the only straight shot at the radiator. The ic is in front of the rest of the radiator. *It only took about 10min to cut out these pieces, taking my time and going slowly; making exact cuts. |

*update*
I just drove in 90deg heat on the hwy with the fal fans off - wasn't able to do that before! I used to have to keep the puller fans on as they were obstructing air through the radiator. So I guess that fixed it. |
