Kouki SE sunroof, wet floor board

I have a 1997 SE with sunroof. I've tried searching, but I get nothing but the usual "check your heater core" etc, well the smell isn't sweet and it's right in my passenger footwell. I don't notice this until I lifted up my factory floor mats and noticed the carpet was soaked. I'm wondering if the sunroof has a drain? Possible runs down the A pillar and down the passenger kick panel? Could it be the condensation overflow drain in the AC is just clogged?

I'm not sure if the s14 is prone to any of these, I know all chassis are different, so I'm trying to keep from chasing dead ends.

Yes. There are drain tubes on all 4 corners of the sunroof assembly that follow the a and c pillars. It is possible that they can get clogged or dislodge from sunroof drip rails.

I've never heard of AC condensation building up enough to leak into the cabin, but I suppose it's possible. I believe the AC box drains to the engine bay through a hard plastic spout.

I've heard other cars that can get it clogged as well from AC condensation.

But, ill check the water coming from the a pillar, the Trans tunnel isn't wet. The water seems to be in the middle of the floor

The only reason the AC condensate would back up into the cabin is because of a clogged drain.

Most likely a missing floor grommet or the sunroof drains.

thats what i was thinkin...

i would lean more towards the a/c condensation drain being clogged rather than the sunroof drains...

compare how ofter water gets in the sunroof channels vs how often you use the a/c.... i would check the ac drain first

i live in and around the rainiest city in the US. (5 feet a year lol)
but also, its HUMID as hell. so AC is also on 24/7 when driving. but theres always a lot of condensation leaking from the car when the AC is on, so i kinda doubt its clogged.

Then you most likely have a floor pan grommet missing or damaged that's causing that amount of water to leak in.

I'd pull up the wiper cowling area as well and see if you can find any debris that would cause those drains to back up as well. This is where your fresh air intake is and there are ways for it to back up and then dump down into your blower motor assembly and leak out.

You sure it didnt leak down from the window being slightly cracked open? Check the sunroof drain, sometimes nipple for the hose have a tendency to break off from time to time. Also, does the back seat floor seem wet too? S14s are notorious leaking around the rear side windows and into the interior.

Well since you said all glasses was removed and replaced, I'd re-inspect the windshield and make sure its not seeping from a bad seal.

Double checked your window seals to make sure they're all snug on the glass? I got a gap on mine right by the side mirror area.

my sunroof on my s13 leaks pretty bad (not anymore because i duct taped it shut haha) but when it did, and the day after was really hot, the leftover moisture on my carpet would make it pretty humid and gross in my car. damn seals -__-

also, i noticed it's caused by the rusting of the metal right at the back of the sunroof. the rust chips off and clogs the drain tubes. really sucks right when i start driving, the first light i stop at i get a nice stream down my back lol
