'91 cams...again...
I'm a bit confused as to what part of the '91 camshafts I need to put into my car. I was first under the impression that I needed the entire camshaft (cam gear at end, and the camshaft itself with lobes and all). However, when trying to buy these '91 cams, I was told by the seller that all the camshafts in every DOHC 240sx are the same and the only thing that is different about the '91s are the gears. Do I need to change just the cam gears or the camshafts as well?
I always thought it was the lobes on the camshafts that determined the durration (240/248 on '91s) not the cam gears. Could someone please straighten me out? -Mike |

Whoever told you that the cams were the same for all the DOHCs is a dumbass, or at least uninformed.
You need the cams. Period. All the cam gears are identical...so those DO NOT matter. '91-92 cams are the good ones, 240 intake duration, 248 exhaust duration...as opposed to 232/232 for '94 and all S14s. - Brian |

I was actually going to just go to the local you-pull-it junk yard and rip them off the 240 they have there. I know I can get a hell of a deal there. Thanks for the offer though.
