so my s13 blacktop sr went dry on oil and was knocking. but i added oil as soon as i herd it and it quit.. so should i still worry about changing my rod bearings considering that its a daily and has a bigger turbo coming in the future?

If it were me I'd rebuild it due to reliability purposes. It also gives you the opportunity to build it with better internals, that way you wouldn't hassle on turning up the boost later on. It also gives you peace of mind, just my opinion.
