s13 brake upgrade question (18in wheels)
ok First off PLEASE NO FLAMMING on fact that i am running 18in 350z wheels...
1993 240sx Vert so she heavy... power plant sr20det tuned for 12psi boost and stock brakes with slotted and drilled rotors as well as coilovers megan streets first my brakes feel like i trying to stop a tank (I know it because the bigger wheels) i trying to find a good brake upgrade that not going to COST super car money Goal are Daily driver plus Drifting and autocross here basic ideas i have so far I would like to run 350z track rotors up front but i have no clue what calipers i can run with that rotors z32 with brackets or something or would that be too small on back i going to do full z32 setup or if someone has a better setup that would be better ?

I know you didn't do any research. Google 240sx brake upgrade and you'll find plenty of different set ups. Most people post up the $ they spent. Examples would be q45, 300zx, skyline, etc.

Spent about $500 on z32 brakes on all 4 corners. That was for calipers conversion lines, new rotors and hawk hp+ pads. I'm running 17's with a 245 tires. Stops amazing. Easiest brakes swap ever.

Want more braking power ? Then the first thing to do is to fit stickier tyres and better coilovers. THEN either get more aggressive brake pads if you dont experience fading, or go bigger brakes if you do. Like a full Z32 brake setup. Or Z32 rear and def 2piece wilwood 300x32mm front setup.
There is no point in fitting big brakes on crappy tyres and suspensions that cant force a tyre to stay on the road. Unless you want big rotors for show in those 18". |

agreed... i'm running CTS-V front brakes on my s13 vert, and its retarted braking power.. but unfortunately i lock up the tires at speeds over 80 if i even give the brake pedal more than... 10% force... i need to find a way to fit fatter tires up front, without getting gay JDM fagboi camber.

^^Locking brakes at 80mph is not necessarily a function of how 'wide' your tires are; so much as how grippy they are. Throw a set of Dunlop Star-Specs on there- whatever you have on there now is obviously shit... or at least not a soft enough compound to handle the Caddie brakes.
I run GT-R front brakes w/Nitto NT555's and have to hit my brakes pretty hard to actually lock them up. The car stops nicely! Running good quality 205's, 215's or even 225's in front is more than sufficient to fix this... You can also try switching to a Z32 master cylinder. It actually puts out less pressure than the OEM 240SX MC; but still has great feel.

I don't buy super blue racing fluid because the stock brakes heats up pretty high. Also, since they're "tiny," you need some hardcore fluid.
For stock brakes, I truly recommend XP10/XP8 brake pad setup with at least AMSOIL brake fluid. Look at the boiling points. |

Back on topic, Maxima brakes are a decent upgrade to stock 240SX brakes that won't break the bank.
I run Motul RBF600 fluid in both MC's... DOT 4 synthetic- Love it!
