S14 ka24de compression issue?

So my roommate bought a zenki s14, motor is bone srock, so we thought, just like mine. Its the ka24de, but his had no pull to it at all.
We put it on a rack and i noticed the flywheel was exposed, which usually means it was manual swapped, correct?
And there's a bung welded on the oil pan which leads me to believe it was boosted at one time, my question is, could it be running a different compression for the turbo?
It's also got 3 " cat back with dual 4 blast pipes on it, wouldn't think someone would do that to a stock engine.
