oh yeah. i've worked in fast food, and boy did that suck... and i've worked a blockbuster, and that was fun, but the pay was just decent. hell, burger king paid higher than blockbuster. but now i'm working for Domino's. i just finished my first shift. i drive my 240 from domino's to any house in 1 10 mile radius. i get to work on my shift technique (this is my first 5-speed) and listen to my music and GET PAID FOR IT. and the pay is awesome: 7/hour plus tips! tonight i worked 3 hours and made 50 bucks (before taxes)! for a highschool senior, that's pretty damn good... and the area i work in is all suburbs, so there's almost no chance i'll get in an accident, and i fi do it's almost guaranteed to be some newbie driver's fault. oh yeah.

Good luck with the new job man, have fun.
Hopefully you'll come upon one of those rich hot house wives that is neglected by her wall st. obsessed husband. You'll be like: Hello Ma'm, here's your pizza. And she'll be like: Thank you, how about you get your teenage ass over here and join me! Then you'll be like: Sorry Ma'm, but I've got other pizza's to deliver. And she'll be like: You mean the 3 I ordered on the other side of the city? You have atleast 1 hour free. Then you'll be like: Yes Ma'm!! [insert 70's funk here] ...yeah

I worked at Domino's for a while. I was a driver for a couple months, then got promoted to Manager. It was pretty cool delivering, and sucked bieng a manager. The pay was great, but the hours sucked. Anyway... I think that if you get offered manager position... decline it.
Anyway, after Domino's I was in Marketing for a long time, and made buttloads of cash. Now I am in college, with no job, and I envy you, because I can't afford gas for my car. -Jeff

I delivered for a while--$6.25/hr + $.85/each delivery + tips. We didn't have to report our tips either. Any time during the week I averaged $13/hr. It was so much fun. Then I was like you and accepted the promotion (mine was only Assistant Manager, though) and I took like a 50% pay cut. I also wrecked 3 cars in that 3.5 years (only 1 wreck was my fault and of course it was the worst wreck too ). That job, although the hours suck if you have to close or work on weekends, is such an awesome job for a college student. You get your paycheck to pay the bills and the tips to PARTY on!!

Hey, I worked as a Domino's delivery guy for a very short time. I quit after another driver that I know got in an accident that was completely the other persons fault, but he wasn't covered for any of it because he was on the job and didn't have commercial insurance (expensive ). Just be careful and remember that there are other stupid people out there. Check with your insurance to see what they do if you got in an accident.

hmm... rich hot housewives...
only if they paid extra i already checked with my insurance company, they said that there's no way the other party can get out of payment if it's their fault, regardless of whether i'm on the job or not. i'm covered.. of course, unless it's MY fault, in which case it probably winds up coming out of my pocket... that or i owe my soul to Domino's but, there's two types of people in my delivery range. there's idiots: soccermoms, 16 year old newbz, cheerleaders with ricerockets, and the like.... they enjoy driving WAY too fast, on the wrong side of the road, and cutting me off. all excellent chances for me to cash in on that KBB and then there's pussies: old people and whipped husbands. oh yeah. they prefer to pull to the side of the road when i come up on them, drive at least 5 miles under the limit at all times, and mutter to themselves about respecting your elders. i wouldn't mind collecting some insurance cash from an old woman, it's just that if i hit an old woman, the insurance co would undoubtedly make it my fault. |

I worked for papa johns over the summer. Couldnt get much hours, so they were on the weekends, but it was ok cuz i usually got off around 10pm. Saw so many damned milfs it was unbelievable. It was really hot when they would call me pizza boy
Yah, theres cash to be made, but sometimes you will have really bad nights...i.e. working 4 hours, wasting 1/2 a tank of gas(they dont cover gas for the first month) and coming home with like $11 in tips or, the good nights, working 4 kick back hours, music blaring, pizza always on time, coming home with pockets full (the most i made in one 4 hour shift was $50 in just tips) but you have to remember that all the town driving is fucking hell on your 240. Well, maybe it was such a cool job cuz I was only going to work there for a few weeks before school started, and didnt really give a shit if i got fired (I peed on a guys garage when he gave me shit about the pizza being cold) |

3 of my friends worked for papa john's, one thinks its a great job because he pulls out like 300+ a week, another got jumped for a pizza, and the other got a gun put to his head for his pizza and 20 bucks... but then again this area (riverside, ca) isnt the greatest. Just look out for trouble and you'll have a lotta fun and be making some good cash.

yeah, delivering pizza's rocks, been doin it for 2years now and it supports my habits (mostly just my 240) the only bad thing is that i have to deliver in my s14 and most people are like "nice car man, you dont need a tip" yeah, whatever, and i dont need to spit in your pizza either

man, the area i'm working is almost entirely upper-middle-class... if i get so much as a swear word thrown at me, i'd be surprised. oh, there is a pretty big bosnian refugee population i deliver to, but they're decent people for the most part...

top this. worked 20hrs a week. monday-thursday. got paid 7.25/hr+tips. paid every week and checks = $150. tips per week = $150 w/o reporting them. so each week i made $300 and that translated to $1200 a month w/half of it being taxed. but the store closed down and i got fucked and now work at a job where i am lucky to make $600 in a month. god i hate this job i am at now. ahhhhhhhhhhhh

i had a friend who used to deliver for round table... his side job was slanging bud, so he'd just make pit stops on the way to his deliveries. plus, he never got in trouble cause his car always smelled like pizza.

I don't know how it is at your Dominos, but I had to fire someone for getting into an accident while working. It was his fault, and it is company policy that an at-fault accident is terms for dismissal. I also had to fire someone for getting a speeding ticket. Seatbelt tickets, music tickets, those are ok to get... but not speeding. Also, you are correct about having to pay at-fault accidents from your pocket. You COULD get insurance to cover pizza delivery, and it was $400/yr. extra for me (19y.o. with tons of tickets and a few accidents.) Or, if you get into an accident driving, w/o the extra insurance, and hit a car... one of two things will happen. 1) Your insurance company covers their damage, and yours, but they will threaten you to get extra coverage or lose insurance. Or 2) Not pay, you'll have to cover their car too. But I did it for months w/o extra insurance. -Jeff

Plus, if you're in an accident, you lose the tip from delivering the pizza on time and un-injured.
I used to deliver pizza also and it was a blast. You're so right when you said you just drive around your neighborhood listening to music and they pay you. It's amazing. Another benefit which you'll soon learn is that you become amazingly good at navigating your neighborhood, and know how to get anyplace at all from anyplace at all via the best route. But, I think may have a nicer job now that I did then (along the same lines, of course) ... valet parking. This job doesn't rack miles up on my car, and it lets me experience the interior of countless luxury vehicles (even if for only a hundred feet or so) that I would never get to ordinarily. For car junkies like us, it really is all about that, and not so much the tips. If you're curious though, the tips are decent, but by no means exceptional. I usually take home $10-$15/hour by the end of the night, but at least that's un-taxed, which makes a hell of a difference when your office paycheck has a third whacked off of it.
