Why doesn't anyone make this #2?
Yeah I saw the other thread I thought I'd throw it out there and see what someone like carbon creations or kognition or whoever thinks.
You know the door inserts, they are about what 10lbs+ each? The part that has door knob/switches/etc... I know alot of people make them out of thin aluminum when they do race /track/hardcore cars haha... and I've seen a bunch done with carbon fiber plates... this shouldn't cost alot to make by oneself... but it shouldn't cost alot to sell either I think? I mean it would be just a FLAT piece of aluminum or FLAT piece of carbon fiber (sexier), lightweight and predrilled for door holes. And either pre cut for automatic or manual windows/switches... or just indented to cut out for either or leave uncut. Heck I wouldn't mind a ferrari f50 cable door opener instead of any knobs or other bs... weight savings are my friend. Someone do it and sell it. Discuss |

Are you just talking about door panels? Origin makes carbon fiber ones in the same design as the original.

NO, not actual inserts, I'm talking about a flat panel thats it... cheap... effective, covers the holes but saves weight and with carbon fiber looks descent. No not the oem shaped covers. How hard would this be to make and sell? Like cmon... predrilled holes and that's it. No crazy moulding process its just literally flat.
I wish I could find some pix... its been posted before... |

Not an s chassis (and ugly) but here's an idea:
I've seen it in carbon fiber, looks great, lightweight and serves its purpose no stupid holes. I'm not talking about these overpriced pretty moulded pieces: I don't even run the plastic tabs, I have no speakers, the bottom holder is off... I just have the cover... if i take it off all together there are holes Car is stripped mostly but it's always easier to make it uglier Meh... found something similar but not the s13 i was thinking: And instead of a crazy mechanism could have just wire opening... like Ferraris Joke aside, why not? So much frickin hate on zilvia its pathetic. Something that's practical, saves weight and it could be made to look descent... and this should NOT be expensive... cmon. No need for a 400 dollar moulded cover that looks OEM... maybe for some show car but no. |

Bee*R makes these door panels for various Nissan models (S13 pictured below), however they are for RHD.
Driver's side. Passenger side. Bee*R list the price as 41,790 yen per side. If I were in the market, I would go for these as oposed to the OEM looking carbon panels. |

if you want nice, you gotta pay the $400 plus shipping. if you want ghetto, make it yourself, which is probably the reason why nobody sells them. |

Just an FYI, pretty much all of the stock looking fiberglass or carbon door panels are actually HEAVIER then stock. The stock ones are really pretty light.

I was hoping someone would make something like this reasonably with even a wire for pulling door open and manual door knob...:
The ones by bee-r are still moulded, but something even more simple like that would be awesome... it can't be heavier than stock lol... the stock is about <10lbs... but meh... the metal brackets etc.. are like 1lbs each but whatever... its bulky too... with it being flat it would give more space... I've tried driving with the cover completely off and it's just lame... |

That's actually not that bad of a price for how their made. I want one of your wings though! Those are the shiznit! I was gonna stop by your trailer at the redline time attack a few months ago, but the one time I walked by and saw anyone there you all seemed pretty busy putting the wing on the JIC porsche. |

Still should have said howdy.
I was going to make just some generic carbon/glass doors. But i learned at the track that they shrink and warp in the heat. So the best way really to make quick release race doors is an aluminum frame. Quote:

That is pretty bad ass
How about window function? Little window with back and forth sliding mechanism out of plexiglas or... full sliding with manual knob. I'd rock it with a roll cage... |

checkout porsche carrera rs doorpannels, THAT is what you should get, not that f50/carbon/fiberglass nonsense. you could easily make an rs style pannel for nothing, thin sheet aluminum, wrap it in vinyl. strap pulls, done

take some pix of what you made
I will take kognition's offer but not yet I'm not replacing the whole doors yet... In meantime i think ill stick with a flat panel of aluminum or fiberglass and yeah wrap with vynl sounds legit enough.. |
