lsd z31 and s13
ok so i have an vlsd on my s13 right now and pretty much hate it. i also have an 88 300zx non turbo as a daily (s13 is the track car). so i wanna put a 1.5 or 2 way in the s13 but heard you cant put something else in the vlsd but have to get an open diff and then swap it. i know the 300zx comes with a r200 rear as well as s13's. so can i swap the rear pumpkins so i have vlsd in the 88 300zx and an open diff in the s13 so i can put in a clutch type diff. if not i already ordered the shims for the vlsd anyways but still wanna swap it.

You cannot. The Z31 LSD has a different ring gear IIRC, and the case is nowhere near the same.

It doesn't matter if they are, the case isn't the same. You'd have to swap the diff, ring and pinion, and reshim it to fit in the S13 case, *if* the ring gear would even fit.

just to clerify your saying the internals of the case would probably be similar but arent sure. i know the final drive on them are different the 240 is like 4.09 or something like that and the z31 is 3.9...im gonna lift them both up and look at it once i get some room. it would just save me a bunch of money just swapping w.e i can and putting the open diff in the 240 (then welding it or putting a 1.5way) and having the vlsd in the 300zx for dd use.
