Bill, you cut the rear fenders and how is the rear bumper going to look like now? Can't wait to see the finished stage.

Drew,
the rear of the car is complete. There is no bumper going on. A diffuser will be made at some point, but I would just like to get it running well now. |

The titanium exhaust is pretty much done and weighs 4 lbs. It exits about a foot before the driver side rear wheel. I got the car on the scales dry today and weighed in at 1926!!! The intercooler was not on and the exhaust was not on but I put them on the hood and it weighed in at 1944. The cross weights are 49% and 51%. Front to rear is pretty close and when there is coolant in the rad it will be almost 50% F/R. The trigger disk for the autronic should be here tomarrow so I might be starting her up.

Bill,
cool on the diffuser. Can't wait to see it. Also, the numbers look good on the scale. That's 800lbs shaved off stock.

hahaha...they are Krylon "fusion for plastic" green. It was the closest green I could find to our DSG green/orange which was originally inspired by the jagermeister green/orange.
Thanks for all the comments everyone. I really do appriciate it. I figure with me (195lbs), lots of coolant, 6 gallons of gas, oil etc the car will be under 2300 wet. Titianium is actually not much harder to weld than stainless if you are not welding for medical, scientific or ultimate strength (i.e. bicycle frame). You can get away with not back purging on exhaust piping if you use filler. The weight of 035 Ti is not that much lighter than 035 stainless but I got this piping for less than it would have cost for the same amount of thinwall stainless so thats the main reason I used it. |
