sr20det blacktop wont stay running until at operating temp.

Ok so im stumped. When I start the car, it wont stsy running I have to keep tapping the gas to keep it on until it reaches operating temp then it runs fine. Its a built blacktop sr with a gt3076r. I bought it with a stock ecu with a e-manage piggy back. I was thinking an iacv but I was told it would mess up at any idle. After it warms up it runs fine so im confused...any help would be greatly appreciated.

uhhhhhh you may want to consult a tuner who is familiar with e-manage.
my GUESS is that the iacv is not functioning properly, but considering that you haven't posted ANY information about things you have checked already (boost leaks, timing, condition of ignition components, compression readings,) i would recommend having a reputable tuner review the tune in your e-managa, and go from there.

in the future, if you are going to make threads like this, you need to provide US with information.

-did you just build and install this engine or was it previously running fine in this configuration, and then just all of a sudden started idling poorly?

-have you ever replaced the coolant temp sensor?

-did you JUST install the e-manage?

we need more info if we are to do anything more than randomly guess.

Im sorry I bought it built with the e-manage. And I had no idea where to start. I plan to take it to a tuner this weekend. I just did think it could be a leak because it only dies when the engine is cold. But thanks for the help I will keep it in mind for further posts.

Does your idle bump up when its cold? Like already stated, the IACV could be bad or the computer isnt sending a signal to open it up slightly on cold starts. Also, do you have coolant lines routed to your throttle body? The throttle body has a cold start thermo that cracks the plate open slightly when cold to bump the idle.

If you are running a MAF setup, that's the first thing I would check. My car had an AUDI MAF, and it was the same thing like yours. I would have to tap the gas untill it can run on it's own. Got a proper MAF, problem solved.

Also, try changing your Coolant Temp Sensor. The one sending readings to ECU, not the dummy light

Buy one from VatoZone or OraleAuto (it depends on your chassis and the year of it, not the engine). They are like $15. These things can throw off a lot of things on this car.
