can anyone help me out? i just went to a local shop in sf and i was quoted 4500!!! that's their typical going rate, but to also do a bit of body work that my car needs it'll cost me another thousand... so any help would be appreciated because 5500 is a bit much for me....

Solomon, PM me.

I go to Sunny AutoBody on 17th street and Potrero, owned by a guy who also went to Lowell (Denny Chen, his dad's the owner...but he runs it i guess). Hit me on AIM or have justin call me ...or call me yourself, haha...

He painted my K's wing and trunk, also did pretty much every car in the class of 2001 =P

so is this a paint job on the entire car? Do you want interior paints done? If just exterior (I think you should just do that) I know a place that you can get your entire exterior painted for 400-500 (and you do the prep/prime jobs). How's the paint job? all i can tell you is it's worth the money .

yea i am sure, but you got do the prep/prime job yourself. Or else pay them extra for them to do it. It's actually called Earl Scheib Body & Paint. My friend got his car painted there for 400. http://www.craigslist.org/pen/aos/39092738.html
Here is an AD on craigslist... says $200, even better

As for my kit, i got it painted at all auto collision. I paid 800 for the painting the kit and also repairing a dent at the rear panel. (I so lowballed them haha, I was like," hey I called this place up they said 700 blah blah blah..") So I asked them for the price of painting the whole car last week. I was there to get my sideskirts install. and they told me it is not cheap. They said 4-5g if you want to paint the interior, and they didn't quote me for exterior only. I think might be around 2000. They do BMW, mercedes and shit so their quality is top. Anyways, let me know if you need anymore help. My number is 415-606-3820.

Earl Scheib is crap. Even if you do your own prep.

If you care about the quality of the paint do NOT get it done there.

Or MAACO. Same crap.

I've heard good things about Sunny Auto Body; a friend of mine is also a friend of Denny's, they do all kinds of bodykit/custom crapola, so they should be able to do ya right.

yeah... maaco and earl scheib jobs suck, so i think i'm going to bring it to sunny auto. i just stopped by today and they gave me a good price, but the only draw back is that it'll take about 2 and a half weeks...

kazuo, did you go to Lowell (or did your friend?)

He painted pretty much all the cars from Lowell class of 2001 (my class), haha...

He said they don't really do modded cars anymore, more money in repairs...he only does special stuff for people he knows...oh well...if i bring him the 240 community's business, i'm sure he won't mind, hehahha
