Yes, another Type X build..... Attempt to create a decent first car.
Well I had the idea of making a build thread but was unsure if I wanted to keep the car or part it out. Ever since I bought it I have been working, going to school or doing something to the car, and I was kinda tired of it so I wanted to part out the car, but I came to the realization that I simply couldn't. So I will push forward and finish the car now.
Now moving on to the car. (complete specs at the bottom) I bought it Febuary, 14 2012. Looking back I was to naive, and maybe should not have bought it. Pretty much stock, sr20 and tein coils. Kept it pretty much like that for about a year. Then bought suspension, brakes, RPf1s, 5 lug swap and HKS hypermax from Kunio a GTR-Garage. After I started piecing together OEM Kouki Type X parts. Then focused on the bushings. Installed PBM subframe raisers, energy suspension bushings, and coated the bottom of the car with 3M undercoating. Then an Nismo/ARC bug bit me an I started buying parts. Probably the last picture I took of the car with the old SR. [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] Then this is where it went downhill. On March, 18 2013, I was on my way to a friends apartment to pull an all nighter for our final the the next day. On my way there I decided to take the car, then on the freeway I heard so fluctuating humming/drone noise, pulled over and everything was fine so I assumed it was tire noise, kept driving then about 10 miles later, engine stated to knock. Threw the car in neutral, then before I could turn it off the SR threw a rod. Started to part out what was salvageable, and looking for another engine. Decided to stick with an sr20 since when taking apart and looking at everything I was able to familiarize myself with it. I made the mistake of selling the ARC BOv & SMIC...... After about 4 months and looking at some sketchy engines, I found one that I was comfortable buying. Might have paid a little more than I wanted but it was the only one with receipts and clear specs on it. Took me a while to get it in since I painted the engine bay and cleaned some stuff. cleaned the engine up bit. Nismo catback! Found a Nismo and ARC oil caps within a few weeks of each other. As well as a Nismo catback Got the car running. BOY WAS I STOCKED!!! Lately I don't drive the car much, but seats started to bother me. I bought some R32 GTR seats. Now, I'm trying to decide if I'll paint this car, or buy a cleaner, straight shell(quarter panels) and transfer everything. Also Looking for new wheels, and maybe new kit for the car. Along with some other parts, but I'll be updating this often and see where it goes. Forgot to update this, so I sold the RPF1s to my friend, this are the pictures of the last time I drove with them
The car is on spares that I took off my daily when I put stocks on it. Been having bad luck with purchasing wheels. Wither they sell before, have cracks/weld repairs, or are out of my budget. Also traded most of the leftover SR stuff I had to my friend for OEM 180sx manual seat beat conversion with the "oh shit" handle. Haven't have time, between running my business and school, to install them but hopefully I can get to it tomorrow. |

After some research, I found out that they were either F40's or grand turismo BBK for skylines. So it was all bolt on. However I was at my friends shop and when they were doing 88rotors lamborghini, the calipers are identical to what the Murcielago has at the rear. |

AHAHA took me a while ot realize it was you aha. But yeah, finally got around to it.
So didn't have time to install the seatbelts but I was able to finally find some wheels. Having them redone so I should have them next week. Front came out to the specs I wanted but the rears will be a little too aggressive, But I think I can make them work. |

Really like the old SR setup, for some reason I like the side mount look better than front mount. Quick question about the handle, any chance it will work on a Vert and do you have any pictures of it installed?

As far as the seat belts, I have not installed them but I can't see them working with the a vert as they extend towards the roof line past the a pilar. But I'll take pictures when I install them on Wednesday. |

Sweet build, excited to follow this one. Although I went another route, I could totally see myself doing a similar build to yours.
Edit: Damn I've never had an itch for rare parts but for some reason I really want that Nismo oil cap hahah. Just started searching for one. |

Got the OEM 180sx seat belts installed. This daylight time savings change has not been helping me as it gets dark relatively soon.
Fist ran into some trouble deciding where to bolt the seatbelts on the door frame. I wanted to use the hole on the to make it look cleaner but there was nothing to bolt it on on. Decided to bolt it on the rear most location for the OEM seatbelts. So much cleaner and nicer. Forgot I needed a JDM 180sx headliner. Also, took off the front knucle/lca to take the brakes and test fit the wheels. They cleared and should be done next week. That'll give me some time to fix a couple issues before I focus on getting the wheels on. |

Forgot to update this as I was fitting new wheels.
Screenshots of VRsheels post and the day I picked them up. Got home and test fitted them right away Got tires mounted the next day as I was waiting for the sealant to fully. Extended the front lower control arms and ran into some issues withe the tie rods being too shourd, so I replaced the rod end spherical bearing with a longer one and I was able to get more thread on each side of the rod ends. http://i1061.photobucket.com/albums/...psnotwxwsq.jpg Had to align the front to be able to drive it while I wait to have time to get it aligned properly. rear fit perfectly with no need to change anything. Drive it for a a few miles and went to the 562 S-Chassis meet. [IMG][/IMG] Front tires are way too tall so will need to step down to either a 215/45 or 225/40 |

So I was busy with finals, and getting everything ready for vacation. so I've just been doing small things here and there.
I bought a lot of small things from a friend who was parting out a wreck hatch. Picked up all the key cylinders to have all matching in the car. took it apart USDM top, JDM bottom Final Kouki (type x) housing with USDM cylinder. also got new cleaner rear interior panels and carpet Old cleaner, I need a leather bag and I'll probably get rid of the sub. Cleaned around the engine bay |

Just realized I never responded to your pm. It's greddy intake pipe. It pushes the box to the front and to the side a little too much. When I had the s13 sr, I used the rubber intake pipe and it was easier to get the Induction Box to mount in the right place. |

So, I went on vacation for the holidays, and came back and being busy with school (graduating this year ) Drove the car like a couple time for the first 2 weeks of jan, and everything was fine, except it started to bog around 3k rpms so I figured it would be a boost leak somewhere. bought a vlsd to re shim, but then decided to sell it and just get a two way. So I got a nismo 2 way. Cleaned the diff housing and inspected everything. The same night I bought the 2 way, the car started to run stupid rich( 10.5 afr at idle) so I figured that was the cause of the bogging at 3k. Come to find out that cylinder #4 was running rich. swap the injector to cylinder 2, and now all cylinders run really rich and foul the plugs within a few minutes of running. So I need to replace the FPR. Removed the front end to be able to check for boost leaks easier. Will be picking up a tomei fpr, hopefully tomorrow so I can drive the car with a proper diff in it and see how it feels. |
