Timing chain rattle or lifter tick?

So I bought a new timing chain kit for my 95 s14 installed it (PITA) then started the engine and I got a horrible knocking/rattle sound.

Yes I have searched around for the answer but I wanted to get more opinions on this before I rip the front cover off again.

Im pretty sure its not knock because I pulled each spark plug and nothing changes. Before I did the install the noise wasn't there either. I also read about the famous chain rattle so I took out the 2 guides everyone says to take out and still the same.

Like i said just wanted some opinions if any of you guys did the timing chain you know its a PITA to do.

lmk wat you think

Yeah I had a auto KA before I swapped over to my SR and it had timing chain rattle. I hear none of that in your vid and it sounds pretty normal to me. Some other peps might chime in but I have heard dozens and dozens of KA powered 240s.

I didn't think the dohc had the guide issues.... I had a timing chain noise and I have had stuck lifters and neither sounded like that....

you sure your timing isn't off???

the only reason I say this cause if it wasn't there before then that might be the issue if you changed out the timing chain

you removed the guides, but did you replace the tensioners?

the little piston that pushes the tensioners are what get stuck.

replace those, and you should be good to go.

if they get stuck, then it must be the money, am, em, i mean the oil lol

must be the oil that its too thick, or too dirty.

i finally saw your vid, and it sounded exactly like mine.

i changed out the bottom piston tensioner, and removed the guides, and all was good after that

well probably gonna rip it back down and check the lower tensioner to see if its stuck or not. The one you changed was it the one that can be reached by just taking off the top cover?
