The light will not come on if there's not enough pressure. Welcome to automobiles, they all do that. It's a failsafe to prevent damage to the compressor.

I had A/C that blew air soo cold I could lift the sound deading tar up with just a simple fart. Making bitches nip out in cars around me was unethical so I removed the system promptly. Body sweat is a natural silicate, and having a stash of gatorades in a cooler is like have a nismo thermostat. Life couldnt be better.

had a similar problem recently, w/ loss of A/C & climate control lights
fan was blowing, but cold or hot air was not coming through the vents.
At first I thought it was the climate control, and replaced that.
Didn't work at all.

Later brought it into a shop that works with A/C's.
fortunately, it was just a bad fuse.

Take it to a shop and get it looked at to see where the leak is. Once they find it, fix it and retrofit to R134a since R12 is in the neighborhood of $80 a can.

Like Russ was saying, if the system doesnt have enough pressure in it (not enough refrigerant/oil) the compressor wont turn on. There is a pressure sensor switch on top of the compressor that detects it. You can check to see if the compressor is good but jumping the switch, but again, thats just to check if the compressor is good and clutch will engage. DO NOT RUN IT THAT WAY, fastest way to fry your compressor.

get a can of refrigerant and a hose. this will cost you like, what, ten bucks? $12?
recharge your system. if it blows hot in a week or so, you've got a real problem. if not, you've got a 20 year old car and shit happens.

I tried to recharge my a/c

Well i got the r134 conversion kit. I recharged and got the a/c light, I heard the compressor turn on but it blows warm still. AND then my light goes off. Does that mean I also have a leak as well as a bad condenser (im not sure what makes it colder)? Thanks for the help guys.

Where is fuel performance at?? I may need hoses.

thanks

Was the system fully evacuated first? Did you pull a vacuum on it before you recharged??
