Show off Your Oil Cooler Setup !

I'm planning on doing an oil relocation/ cooler setup. I plan on autocrossing and tracking my S13 every now and then, but I cant find any threads or many pictures of setups or tips or anything of that nature. So for the other fellow members who would like to know more and/ or just want show off your setup, post it up in here. And yes, I will post up my setup once its said and done. Thanks for chimming in !

Why do you google " oil cooler front ". You need to google " oil cooler 240sx". Hope that will teach you the proper way to use google. You're welcome.

Believe me, I've searched different titles using different search engines and same shit, just random oil cooler setup parts but not really everything assembled together. I made this thread hoping that some Zilvia guys could help me and possibly others with the same stuff.

Are you trying to figure out where people put theirs?

Mine was in front of my passenger side tire up by the radiator and I left the oil filter where it was because I had no reason to move it...

Thats where I wanted to place mine, that or on the outside of the bumper in that same area like how alot of 240zs are setup. Where exactly did you mount your oil cooler ?

putting it on the outside of the bumper is stupid on an s13
when i had one i out it on the passenger side between the fender and the enginebay, under the battery tray. add some ducting and you really wont get much better flow, unless your bumper doesnt have an opening there

in front of the radiator isnt a bad spot too. in front of the bumper, not only will it get clogged up with pebbles, but tap the front a bit and you arent making it home with oil in the motor

Thats where the cooler went. The filter itself stayed in its oem place and I just had the cooler mounted under where the battery goes, behind the bumper.

^ Sweet setup. Pictures always speak a thousand words. How difficult was it to mount the oil filter back against the firewall ?

So with this one all of the oil will drain back to the pan? Do you run a thermostat, or filter relocation with this one? How much extra oil do you add?

Just curious, I have my cooler sitting with the taps on top so that it doesn't drain back and my car doesn't have to try to fill all the empty space at every start up.

Also nice ducting.

As far as I know, it is recommended using a thermostatic oil filter relocator and I believe an extra quart is needed.

For a street car I'd suggest a thermostat. For a track only car, not so much as it's just one more point of failure (and most track cars get brought up to temp properly)

Also if there was confusion my question of do you run a thermostat was directed at jr_ss and not a general question.

Just interested in if there is a benefit in whether or not a drain back cooler or one that does not.

I would think a cooler that does not drain back would keep the time the lines are empty down to a minimum, allowing better start up flow.
