Good friend of mine has a VQ (idk what size) DET that he bought for his s13. IDK that it will ever make it in there, LOL.

Seems like fun to me if you have the money to do it.

If your talking about the VQ25 is not stateside legal so why bother. Though I do not believe the VQ25 was ever offered in a Stagea now the RB25DET was.
We have both VQ30's and VQ35's that can be made stateside legal so no sense going down to 25.
Granted I have yet to see someone make a completely legal stateside VQ swap but that to shall change

Its a turbocharged factory motor for the stagia and most of them are AWD looking for a project for a 350z later, issue is cheap but finding the stagia that has the Vq25DET is few and far between. just want the turbo parts and the intake manifold that is used on it.

Still you make a good point, this set up isnt for resale to the public or selling swaps to the public.....................

the VQ25DET has a lot of improvements and its a high-rev turbo motor so should provide for some fun.................. and with an auto set up.

+1. 98% of them are VQ25DD motors non turbo the VQ25DET are the stuff to have a lot of fun with, hotter cam and the VQ35HR plenum. its a dual throttle body with a single turbo. Not to mention its a factory turbo. There is one shop in japan that has ROM tune / turbo + injector upgrade. they say 360hp flywheel hp when done. now that is what I want to do with another car project later.

The market segment has changed and people want a car that is fun fast and legal, so a lot of people have moved on to cars that are ligit and come with a warranty. you think guys who bought a brand new skyline GT-R are going to drop another $50,000 to cut 1 second off the 0-60 time. NO they are not.
People who want an SR powered S13 is a segment that has completely changed and the market that is different.

This is not a coincidence; it is directly related to the stricter smog laws. EVERYBODY needs to start caring about emissions legal swaps because soon enough we will all be in the same boat.

WTF is your fucking problem? That post was not directed towards you in ANY way at all! It was directed towards the people scoffing at the idea of smog legal engine swaps. The CARB and engine swap laws are bullshit because they have absolutely nothing to do with emissions AT ALL, they are about money and nothing more. The whole "disease" thing was only used to get my point across that the laws will not stop spreading. As far as I have seen you are not even qualified to wipe your own ass without mommy's help so I really don't know where you get off telling me about how wrong I am about smog laws and carb legal swaps.

IDK... VQ25DET just sounds... SEXY. A 2.5 litre turbo V6. That just kinda screams Midget Body Builder. Small yet powerful.

Good luck. Im starting to do a little research on my own. I figured out it would be cheaper and more reliable if I just dropped a 2JZGTE into my 325is than it would be to supercharge it. So I'm looking into the finer aspects of that.

Again, good luck. I'd love to see that thing in action.

Shit... As long as its turbo with more that 189 hp I'd be happy. But the 2jzgte has 320, its a 6 speed (iirc) and i can get one for 3500 bucks. Another 2 grand for a shop to put it in, and that right there is 20 more horsepower, a bulletproof bottom end, and tons of potential (along with a kick ass sound) for the same price as a supercharger that gets me up to 300 hp.

lol. Sorry OP. Serious Thread Jackage going on. Anyhow... Hit up Nissan. See if they cant give you the FSM for the Stagea with the 2.5. Its a start at least.

remember keep the the weight down on the motor and if I remember proplery that 2.8 motor you have is a lot lighter then the Toyota motor....... resason being the top half of your 2.8 motor is plastic vs the cast alunimum toyota parts. so need to keep that in mind as well the 2.5 is lighter then the 3.0 + you will have more power and fun with it set up like this !

If I remember right VQ25 has the same stroke as a VQ30, it's just the bore that's smaller. So if you want a VQ that revs a little better, just get the crank, manifolds, etc. No need to get the whole block.

det block is the same but it has beefed up oil passages and under piston squiters and some other really cool stuff as well, now thinking of whch a Vq25with a .40 over and some high compression pistons and some ITB's would make one hell of a High revving 2.6 set up !

still either way play around with nissan's parts box you get some really impressive set up !

Cool, never knew the block was that different. But I'm pretty sure VQ35's have the piston squirters.

IMO, you can have whatever motor you want, just don't do anything silly on the road or don't draw too much attention to your car with even the smallest illegal thing. If you don't get pulled over you don't have anything to worry about, so don't get pulled over= probem solved. Now back to subject, awsome idea!!!! +1 for originality

Holy fuck this thread is a pile-o-shit.

If you have beef, take it to pm's so you don't fuck up a whole thread like this.
