Exclamation 5.3 LM7 lsx s13 coupe build

Well I started off with a busted s13 shell that had a rough body and barely any interior. Found a 02 LM7 5.3 longblock out of a silverado for 550 shipped with 50k miles on it and couldn't pass it up. Picked up a 01 Camaro ss t56 6 speed tranny to go along with it.

I went with Daft Innovations mounting setup and can only comment on the lack of communication from Rich, but the parts are great quality for the swap.

It's a fairly stock setup that I plan on putting a/c in within the next couple weeks because 105 degree FL temperatures kill the fun of the car during the summer. I'll list my setup on this

-5.3 LM7 Longblock
-00 Camaro T56 Trans
-LS6 intake mani, fuel rails, injectors and tb
-Daft Innovations 1 7/8" long tube headers
-3" Custom Y pipe
-3" Catback Greddy exhaust
-Daft Innovations mount kit
-s13 5 lug swap
-j30 diff
-Megan Street Coilovers
-Varrstoen 18x9.5 +12 (235/40), 18x10.5 +15 (265/35)
-3.5" Intake w/ K&N filter

Exterior
-s13 silvia front end w/ dual projectors
-s13 origin type 1 30mm rear overfenders
-s13 silvia CF hood painted to match

It took about 2 months for me to actually complete the build and drive it once I had the shell back from paint.

On to the pictures...

Ls6 intake mani that got broken during shipping.

Getting the motor setup at the house

Daft Mounts and some accessories on the longblock

This is where UPS dropped my transmission, it was lovely. Smashed the tailhousing in on it.

New carpet put in the car with the new dash

Getting close to going in the car!

Test fitting the wheels on the car.

Here's the fun, the bastard fits.

It's on the ground again

Working on getting the headers to slide in and fit.

First time it moved under it's own power!

Yes it runs flawlessly and I will get up some videos this week for yall.

Pretty much, i've started from the barebones and worked my way through this so I feel pretty confident in helping anyone on here that has any specific questions regarding the LSX swap.

Thanks, Tyler.

Thanks for the compliments!

Even with the 5.3 iron block it's still a ton different than a sr for sure. Just having the power as soon as the gas is hit is what gets it for me. Plus within a weekend I could swap a 6.0 in fairly easily if I get the urge

I do plan on going lower all around, I just need to roll and pull my fronts and work a little on the rear fenders. I'd like to find a pignose lip for it as well, then with the rest of the drop it should be close to where I want it!

How much do you pay for t56? Lx engine is easy and cheap to get but t56 is alot harder to get and more expensive.

Very nice!

What ECU are you running and did you have to have it programmed to remove the security system or anything?

1200 shipped for the tranny before the UPS fuck up. After all was said and done, I was refunded 600, bought a new tailhousing from Tickshift.com for 100 and installed that. Ended up paying about 750 once all the hassle was over.

I'm running a 98 Camaro PCM and wiring harness. It's a stock ECU that is flashed with Tech 2 to remove Vehicle Anti Theft and all the other small things that need to be disabled such as EGR/Emission stuff.

As of right now I couldn't honestly tell you, nor would I try to make some random guess. I've only had the car on the road for about 3 weeks now and haven't had time to make it out to the track. I'll post up some track #'s when it happens.

Bro, your car is sick.
I love the simple, clean styling.
OEM Aero, nice silver color and 18's ftw + LSx t56 swap.....This might be the perfect car for me haha.

Mind me asking where you found an 02 LM7 for 550 shipped though?

+ 1 for seeing track times though. A 5.3 swap is a great alternative to LS1 when you consider dollar to hp ratio.

Beat the shit out of the trans tunnel with a sledge. It seemed to work well and doesn't compromise the integrity of the car or chassis.

Nicely done.. Once I'm done with the KA-T this is the next thing I wanna build myself. Plenty of Vortec motor on our local CL listing for dirt cheap.

Great build! I gotta ask. What is the difference in weight from a KA to the LM7? Did it change the F/R balance a lot? I've got a S13 with a blown engine and I think this swap may be for me.

Great looking car! I'm in the works of boosting mine right now. The power and torque of any of the LS engines is amazing. You will get tired of 400HP sooner or later and will want to boost it... trust me.

I think the L33 is a waste really for what they usually charge for them, plus you have to still find car accessories and intake manifold, might as well just do the bigger 5.7L LS1.
