The steam engine.

This has got to be one of the easiest engines to drive, maintain, and learn on. Jordan's s14 kat build is on ka-t.org if you're looking for specs.

YouTube - Henry Schelley Smokin Sideway Federal Tyres
Henry built this car from the ground up. used the ka since it was easy to pickup motors in case he ever blew one. who knew this motor would last him the whole formula d 2008 season. Only thing to think about now, is 100mph+ drifting in a ka-t. around 380whp around 4800 rpm's. but dies to around 240 at redline. great for track days...not so good for formula d's 500-600whp competition.

My opinion...depends on your final destination. I was gonna go ka-t till I found out they max at 400whp with great mods. I know you can get rediculous 800whp out of them...but buy a SR, forge the internals, and run 14psi of boost, car will be reliable for damn near forever running 300whp.

haha or you can be a complete cheater and put a LSx motor in your 240 and you'll have infinite NA power hahahaha.

That cars got it down for sure. I dont look forward to hitting the formula D events anytime soon since im gonna need ALOTTA practice jsut to get on podium. Im hoping i can start this build soon cuz i think im just gonna go for it and see how this build turns out.

Thanks guys for the advice!! im not sure how soon this build will happen since this family is really low on money at the moment. theyve been helping me this whole time get the car where it is right just to find out we need a couple more grand to fofill this dream of mine.

I think it'd be a great project to build a KA-T especially if you have another car to drive around and play with. (Mk4 Supra) But I'm reading alot of people saying that they're 'bored' of seeing Sr's in 240's and saying that it isn't original etc... I'd just like to make it clear that the KA COMES in the 240sx, incase everyone forgot that, so anyone that owns a 240sx at some point had a KA in it..... Unless they bought one with a swapped Sr/whatever. And personally I'd say Sr's are quite reliable, just stick with an S14/15 SR and upgrade injectors/turbo/tune/fuel pump and you could be putting down a reliable 300whp setup. If you so desired to invest some time and quality parts into it. Motors designed for boost, will always take it better.

people who say this are generally POSER DOUCHEBAGS.
and these POSER DOUCHEBAGS rarely get anything done, ka, sr, rb, ls1, or other.

I would have to agree, as you are going to have endless opportunities to maintain and learn on a KA-T setup. lawlz.

I just love what they are tired of "seeing", not "doing" shit -but tired of "seeing" nonetheless.

Hi guys!

KAE-T, do it. Most fun you will ever have.

Tracking it shouldn't be a problem. One big problem with SOHC's are the numerous vacuum lines which get effing retarded. Otherwise, have fun.

PS. Doug says hello!

He sold his car back in December but does have some things left over if any KA boosters want. Nismo FPR, MSD-6AL, Q45 TB's.

PPS.

Foxtrot, were you running a topmount log?

JGS manifold, and get some rubber hose. You can mount the reservoir where ever you want.

Ok, when i get the parts in ill let you guys see some photos.

What do you think is good to paint my car ??

Since the motor is out i can probly paint under the hood so i might aswell take that advantage.

primer white right now. I just wet sanded it. Im currently studying paint jobs. for Christmas i got a HVLP spray gun with a 26 LBS 150 PSI air compressor.

what colors do you guys think is good for a comp car? I was thinking a flashy color since i would want the judges to focus on my car when ever im out there..

Yellow? light blue ? white ?? im not sure lemme know guys thanks !

TOTALLY GO FOR IT!! my first 240 was a single cam and that thing was a beast. i beat the shit out of that thing and it held on forever.... until i smashed into a 1 foot high curb. It will be a lot of money but will be worth it in the end.

SOHC's look so small and cool, I kind of want one.

My favorite car with a KA24E is the BN demo S14.

Well if it is power you want, why not go all out. In the grand scheme of things it's just a couple bucks.

Hahaha.

Assuming you have all the turbo equipment, + Fuel Pump + FPR + Injectors + MAF + ECU (ROM tune?)/Standalone, and all that will get you to where a stock-block SR20 is power-wise.

Assuming you have all the turbo equipment, + Fuel Pump + FPR + Injectors + MAF + ECU (ROM tune?)/Standalone, and all that will get you to where a stock-block SR20 is power-wise.
Yeah ive got all that.. I just wanna get the bottom end complete.

Ive already got

T3/T4 turbo with all the other etc needed for a kit.
255LPH fuel pump
460CC RX7 Injectors but i think i might get some bran new injectors not sure yet
I have yet to get FPR
i have stock ecu tuned with e-prom. Im looking forward to upgrade to the greddy emanage to cancel the MAF and have a better controll over everything under the hood.

I was under the impression that the single cam was put in that car solely for the purpose of driving it to a meet to help sell it. Not for any love of single cams.

I don't want to put words in the owners or the shop that had it's mouths but that was my understanding.

How did you find that out?? I think thats sad... SOHC in my sight are beautiful engines.... in a way a dream engine for drifters...

super easy to work on. Low maintanace and torque.... You may need a diff motor if you heading forthe high MPH drifts but this engine to me is perfect for a beginner.
