this is kinda funny.

car gets broken into at school.

bunch of stuff gets stolen.

including my alarm, which was still in the box.

i brought it along to so i could install it after school.

irony.

In Arizona most thefts are done by tweakers and or illegal immigrants, sorry if that offends anyone but the statistics don't lie. The sound of a shotgun pumping or my .45 chambering a round is enough to get them to scatter. Most want nothing to do with cops or dying.

I hope I never have to shoot one but I am prepared if I must. I work hard for my stuff and pay for it with blood, sweat, and tears.

Leave a cell phone hidden in the car with a 12 volt charger plugged into it all the time.

When your car gets jacked ask the cops to trace it.

also have lojack/alarm/killswitches/park where it can be seen/hide plates online.

AZ & TX are the only states that I can see someone standing a chance with something like this. In most states if someone is stealing your car and you shot and kill them esp if they are rolling away your pretty much f*&ked with a sick _______<fill in a word that rhymes. Sorry I wouldn't shoot someone over something I can replace. I have been very close to doing this and was told by L.E.O that I made the right choice.

Someone should contact the police in this area and ask them what they are doing about this. Bait car, sting etc. SoCal is notorious for GTA.

If you really want your car secured, i say find a way to chain your car to the ground or make some sort of car rack like a (bike rack but for cars) and chain your chassis to the rack, get a thick azz chain and lock.....lol

i can imagine it now, a thief walks up to your car on the drive way... WTF... sees 4 thick azz chains locked on each corner of your car, just sits there, uuuhhhhh....... OK....uhhh....i guess its time for plan b

Do they sell stickers that read to some effect.

"This car is protected with lojack"? Or some other highly effective alarm system?

then they know exactly what they need to get your car.

from what i've heard someone can kill your cars battery by placing a powerful magnet over it then rape your shit. can anyone confirm/deny?

I would like to know what alarms and good to invest in. I know shit about name brand or what options are good so a review of some sort from fellow 240 owners would be helpful. Oh and definitely have a killswitch and fuel cut off in mind. Hopefully they're simple enough so that I can install them on my own with no problem. The less ppl that know, the better.

Lo Jack has a secondary power source and some good alarms have it also. However personally I wouldn't invest in anything other that an OEM alarm. How many times have you walked thru a parking lot or heard an alarm and you not even really focus on what's going on? A real thief will disarm an alarm in a couple of seconds. As far as Lo-Jack stickers the device is a theft recovery no deterent so if someone knows you have it they can look for it and try to disable it thus defeating the purpose.

yeah you are better off getting the real deal... dont cheap out on your car. Also the secondary power source works for quite a bit. I left the negative terminal off my battery for three weeks and it was still working.

Add FL to the list, we added the Stand Your Ground law. You can now shoot someone stealing your car. Possibly AL can also get away with it, the south don't play...

+1 for kill switches. Best feeling in the world to come out to your ride that's been broken into, but they couldn't take it because they couldn't START it!

Do as much as you can to add to the time it'll take to start or drive your car. The more obvious things you do (steering wheel lock/ disconnect, alarms, etc.), the more likely the thief will look somewhere else instead. Even if you have a standard alarm, make sure the LED is very visible.

Another good piece of advice, from my experience? Live in shitty apartments, and befriend your neighbors. My ghetto neighbors were always up all night either high or beating their wives (or both), and because I helped them with repairs to their cars, they looked out for mine. Most of these lowlifes go to the nice neighborhoods to get the good stuff, so living in a slum can have an advantage...
Of course, I STILL moved out as soon as I could afford to!!

Yea..that is the best feeling even though u still get fucked. My car got broken into a few weeks ago. took my mp3 headunit and my navi. Kill switch that NOONE can figure out. Also linelocks are good item also, ill do a write up on it.

Its basically a brake switch inline with an electronic valve. basically you flip the switch and it puts pressure in your braking system so all the wheels are locked.

next on my list is getting my permit to carry some heat. And the only way you can get in trouble for shooting a theif is if there still alive to testify....its self defense!

Another thing that is good to do if you MUST park in the open whether it be on the street or in a driveway is to turn you steering wheel full lock towards whatever direction makes it harder for a theif to drive away. Then lock your steering column and take off your steering wheel (quick release) so they can't drive away with it, sorta. It just makes it that much harder.
